The Carrissa Love of the Game Award
Carrissa Brough played with Reynolds Little League for 10 years. The favorite part of her day was when she could come to the fields to watch or play a game, to help in concessions and do whatever she had to do to be around the game she loved. Carrissa would drive her pink Jeep around the bases when her wheelchair wouldn't work. She laughed in the faces of the doctors who said she might have to give up baseball. She loved the sport so much that when it was baseball season nothing was going to get in her way of playing. Nothing!
Unfortunately Carrissa was taken from us way too soon. But her smile, her determination and her love for the game will never be forgotten.
In 2017 Reynolds Little League, with the blessing of her family, recognized that the toughness and grace she displayed needed to be celebrated. The Carrissa Brough Love of the Game Award was given to the player who shared those same qualities as Carrissa. The award celebrates the player, regardless of division, who displays good character, integrity, sportsmanship, heart and unbridled joy for the game. This is not a skill based award. This is an award that celebrates those intangible qualities that really matter in a teammate.
If you see a player who displays these qualities please nominate them for this great award. You can do so by emailing
[email protected] and describing why you think the player should be nominated.
So often the accolades go to the ones winning. Or the ones showing the the best acumen for the game. This celebrates what's truly important, the person behind the uniform.
