316 Sports Baseball is happy to announce two baseball programs for multiple age groups for the Fall: Recreational Baseball focusing on early and introductory development of the youth baseball player; and Academy/Travel Baseball focused on advanced play and competition.
1. RECREATIONAL BASEBALL: Tee Ball through 14U (as registration numbers allow)
Depending on the age level and registration numbers, there are two options for league play:
a. Intersquad play, wherein we typically play a 8 game season with a playoff consisting of all 316 Sports registrants (i.e., 4 teams are formed, each team plays each other twice and then a bracket playoff takes place for championships).
b. Interleague play, wherein we take advantage of our partnerships with other leagues and field at least ONE team in another league or local athletic association to compete and play our season (typically 8-10 games).
Recreational baseball practice will typically be once a week on the same day of the game for Tee Ball through 9U.
10U and up may hold up two two practices during the week in between games.
2. ACADEMY TRAVEL BASEBALL: 10U up through 14U
We are extremely excited to offer a Christ-centered, affordable and competitive option in the academy and travel baseball arena. Teams will be formed via tryouts and by invite and will compete in local Charlotte-Metro baseball leagues and tournaments. Our Academy teams practice twice a week to prepare for weekend tournaments. Tournaments MAY include Sunday games, with a possibility of playing 2 Sunday games this Fall, although our goal is to limit any interruption of family worship at church. God first, baseball second.
COACHING: All coaches for both recreational and academy baseball will have USA Baseball Certified coaches. Parents interested in coaching are welcome and encouraged to join coaching staffs; we do offer training and welcome even part time assistance. On-field and online training offered.
AGE REQUIREMENTS: 10U stands for 10 and under, 9U stands for 9 and under, etc.. Children are always allowed to play up to an older age level but not down, meaning a 9 year old can play 10U or even 11U baseball as his/her ability permits but he cannot play 8U baseball unless he was 8 when the season started and meets the cut-off date. The date cut-off for age groups is October 31st, meaning a child playing in 10U must not turn 11 prior to 10/31/2020, otherwise he would have to play 11U. Special age considerations can be made depending on the league/level of the child.
FIELDS: Our home fields will be at Idlewild Baptist Church in Matthews, NC.
For Academy baseball, we will practice at Idlewild Baptist and games will take place in the local Charlotte-Metro region, depending on tournament assignments.
