Merrillville Youth Soccer In-House League is made to focus on kids in U6 & U8 Divisions, which include ages 4-8 respectively. This league is designed to focus on fundamentals, growing the love of soccer, and having fun.  We will work with all ability levels from "Beginning to Experienced."

Competition Plans:

2 Coed Divisions
U6- 4, 5, 6 year olds
U8- 6, 7, 8 year olds

Teams will be formed based on evaluations and balancing play groups. Forming competitive teams is ideal, and therefore all requests cannot be achieved. Evaluations will be done by coaches in the division.  Practices will take place on one day each week with all teams in the division attending . Groups for the practice will vary based on the day. Coaches during practice will work together with the Division Coordinator. This is to allow new coaches to learn various drills, existing coaches to learn new drills, and the kids to learn all the coaches and other players throughout their respective division. 

Play Formats

Games will be 3v3 or 4v4 with NO Goalkeeper on a 35x25 yard field using 4x6 goals. Scores for U6 & U8 will NOT be kept.  In these age groups, the focus is on developing skill, a passion for the game, and fostering a fun environment for the kids. 

Coaches:

Volunteer coaches will be needed for each team. Coaches will be provided with a full season training curriculum, designed for the ages appropriate for the respected division.
