DJAA Parent Code of Conduct
· The use of profanity, drugs, alcohol, or tobacco during any DJAA event is prohibited.
· Set the right example for your child by always showing good sportsmanship.
· Never voice any complaints or concerns towards players, coaches, or referees in front of the children. Parents should support the efforts of the volunteer coaches and organizations. Never argue with a coach or official during practices or games.
· Any complaint or concern can be directed to your DJAA parent Rep or DJAA Board Member/Directors, where it will be promptly investigated.
· Understand that your child will be given every opportunity to participate; however, the safety of our athletes is our #1 concern.
· Remember to praise your child’s efforts and always offer your support. Please allow your child to play as a child and have fun.
· Darrington Junior Athletic Association practices a zero-tolerance policy on negative behaviors for all its players, coaches, parents & fans. Everyone is expected to always behave appropriately. Failure to do so could result in removal from the facility and or suspension/expulsion.
· Coaches are always responsible for their players, parents, and their own behavior.
· Our zero-tolerance policy will be enforced by DJAA coaches, officials, and board of directors.
· Any Player, Spectator or Coach who is suspended or removed will have to meet with the DJAA board of directors before being reinstated.
DJAA Player Code of Conduct
· I will attend all practices, games, meetings, and any other team functions on time.
· I will always show respect towards all coaches, players, and referees.
· I will demonstrate good sportsmanship on and off the field of play.
· I will not fight, use foul language, or argue with coaches or teammates.
· I will stay within the established areas of the sidelines during games.
· I understand that I risk being ejected and or suspended from a game or further team participation if I show unsportsmanlike behavior.
· I will be coachable and ready to learn and have fun.
· I will be a team player and always put the team first.
· I will obey the coaches and the rules of the Darrington Junior Athletic Association.
· I will try my very best to learn and have fun.
DJAA Officials/Referees
· Officials and those who run the game clock are often volunteers or young persons who have been approved by DJAA coaches and they are crucial to ensuring our kids have games to play. This is a recreational activity with a focus on fun and learning; officials may make mistakes or miss calls.
· Any complaint or concern can be directed to your DJAA parent Rep or DJAA Board Member/Directors, where it will be promptly investigated.
· Spectators & coaches are encouraged to provide feedback to the DJAA Parent Rep or DJAA Board Members the next business day. Negative comments/behaviors directed at officials will not be tolerated. Players, coaches, and fans must always remain respectful to officials. All decisions made by the Officials are final. Misconduct towards officials may result in the removal from the facility, suspension, or removal from the organization.
· Any Player, Spectator or Coach who is suspended or removed will have to meet with the DJAA board of directors before being reinstated.
Youth Sports Program - Player Three Strike Policy
This policy is implemented to promote a positive, respectful, and safe environment for all athletes. This ‘Three Strike Policy’ applies specifically to player behavior. However, under certain circumstances the players’ parent/guardians can and will affect their players’ participation status (please reference the ‘Note’ located at the end of this document). All participants are expected to uphold the values of sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect for coaches, officials, teammates, and opponents.
Strike 1: Verbal Warning
The player will receive a verbal warning from a coach or program official.
The behavior will be clearly addressed, and expectations will be restated.
The incident will be documented by staff and shared with the player's parent/guardian.
Strike 2: Written Warning & One-Game Suspension
A written warning will be issued and shared with the player and their parent/guardian.
The player will receive a mandatory one-game suspension (or sit out one practice, depending on the offense).
A brief meeting with the player, parent/guardian, and coach may be required to discuss improvement before their return.
Strike 3: Removal from the Program
Upon a third violation, the player may be removed from the program for the remainder of the season.
This decision will be made by the program director in consultation with the coaching staff.
No refund will be issued in the event of dismissal.
Examples of Violations
Disrespectful language or behavior toward coaches, officials, teammates, or opponents
Repeated unsportsmanlike conduct (e.g., taunting, arguing, intentionally breaking rules)
Bullying, teasing, or exclusion of teammates
Physical aggression or unsafe behavior
Refusal to follow coach instructions or team rules
Appeals Process
Parents or guardians may submit a written appeal to the program director within 5 business days of a dismissal. The appeal will be reviewed and a final decision will be made within 7 business days.
Note: Severe behavior (e.g., fighting, threats, or illegal activity) from either the player and/or parent/guardian may result in immediate removal from the program without following the full three-strike process. Severe behavior could additionally be deemed ineligible for participation in future sports within Darrington Junior Athletic Association.
