Salem youth Football & Cheering (SYF&C) is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3), non-profit organization, dedicated to offering a full-contact football program for children in grades 1st-8th grade living in Salem, Ma. SYF&C participates in the Northeast Commonwealth Youth Football & Cheer (NCYFC). SYF&C is committed to providing a positive football experience for the youth of Salem.
What is the Northeast Commonwealth Youth Football & Cheering?
The Northeast Commonwealth Youth Football & Cheering is an independent youth football organization that prides itself on being a local league and not being affiliated with any national organization.
The NCYFC is a local league that includes the organizations Beverly, Charlestown, Chelsea, Melrose, Peabody, Reading, Revere, Salem, Saugus, Stoneham, Wakefield, Watertown/Belmont. The League is well run and closely governed by an Executive Board and 12 Presidents who are all voted in by the member towns. The League is closely bound by their own By Laws which are updated annually as voted by all member towns.
Is Salem Youth Football and Cheer part of the Salem School System?
No, Salem Youth Football and Cheer is a privately operated, non-profit, all volunteer program. The Board Members are elected each January, and includes parents and others who are dedicated to the organization for the benefit of the youth in the city of Salem.
Does Salem Youth Football and Cheer hold tryouts?
No. There are no tryouts for football or cheerleading and there are mandatory play requirements, meaning every child is guaranteed to play. All interested participants may register for an age and grade appropriate squad.
When does the 2024 Fall Registrations period for Football and cheerleading open close for the season?
Online registrations opens on April 1st for the 2024 fall season and will close June 30th for Cheerleading and July 22nd for Football.
