FCA BASEBALL BAY AREA

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQS)

DO YOU TRAVEL OUT OF STATE FOR TOURNAMENTS?

This will vary with each team in the future. Our common destination is Northern California. Most of our practices, games and tournaments are local in the Bay Area.

DO YOU HAVE TO BE A CHRISTIAN TO PLAY FOR FCA?

No, that is not a requirement. Although FCA is a Christian organization, we welcome players of all faith backgrounds, denominations and belief systems.  That said, every player participates in weekly Bible studies throughout the season.  Prayer is also included in each practice and game and our staff/coaches/volunteers will lead chapels throughout the season.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO PLAY ON AN FCA TEAM?

Our current rate is $1.100 per season. It can vary on the team and how many tournaments are being played in the season.  Costs include practice facilities, uniforms, coaches pay, equipment, and tournament registration fees.  Hotel and travel for out-of-town tournaments are in addition to the player fees.  We are transparent with our funds and strive to be outstanding stewards of our families’ money.  You will know how your player fees are being spent.

DOES FCA OFFER SCHOLARSHIPS?

We have a goal to build a scholarship fund for every team to help families that need it. We never want money to be a reason you decide to not join FCA.  We can be creative in helping you fund player fees and/or come up with options that may work for you.  We will do what we can to make it work…just let us know if you need help.

DO YOU REQUIRE FUNDRAISING?

We can set this up at the team level if families are interested.

HOW DO YOU HANDLE CONFLICTS WITH HIGH SCHOOL BASEBALL?

High School Baseball takes precedence.  We work to schedule our fall and summer programs around the high school schedules.

WHAT’S YOUR THOUGHT ON PITCHER ONLY PLAYERS?

We do have pitcher only player at the High School levels only.  These are typically athletes who strongly desire to pitch in college and want to invest their skills development time in reaching the highest competitive level possible.  For younger ages, we believe every player should be developed in a primary and secondary position – a pitcher only would be an exception.

WHAT IS YOUR PHILOSOPHY ON PITCH COUNTS?

We follow the American Sports Medicine Institute guidelines with more stringent restrictions added by the Bay Area FCA Baseball Coaching Staff.
