In summary, All-Star teams are assembled after a collection of observation throughout the year by the divisional head coaches, assistant coaches, team helpers, and league leadership (league leadership involved during team tryout event).  The reason why we play our Schoolcraft teams against each other throughout the season is part of the process to observe player development and progression for a spot on the team.  In addition to talent, we look for player attitude, coachability, respect for authority, and being team oriented.  We understand that emotions may arise around 'every parents child is the best' and should make the all-star team however that is not always the case.  If your child does not make the all-star team, we ask that you respect the decisions made by volunteers, period.  If the all-star team is a goal for your player, be intentional and ask your regular season coaches how your player is doing and where they could improve throughout the season and put action to that feedback with your player outside of practices/games as the parent/guardian.  If you feel strongly against the decision made in which your player did not make the team, please remember that coaches and league leadership are volunteers that do our best.  If you are not content with our best- consider becoming a volunteer coach or joining our volunteer league leadership to show us where improvement can be made.

All Star Team Try-Out Process (all divisions, both baseball/softball):
1- Players interested in making our All-Star Teams for LL tournament play shall complete an All-Star application form that will be issued mid way through regular season.
-include any changes desired in jersey size from regular season jersey 
-include top 3 choices of jersey number in order of preference
-be sure to have players (or parent/guardians) share their interest in All-Stars with your regular season head coach during the season

2- Regular season Head Coaches will submit a consolidated list of interested players to softball or baseball VP's and league Player Agent via email along with selection recommendations as observed throughout the regular season.  Regular season head coaches shall also share their interest in All-Star team coaching (ex: Head Coach, Assistant Coach, Team Helpers) with BB & SB VP's.  

3- Tryouts will occur for everyone that shared an interest.  All-Star tryout dates and field locations will be communicated to those that shared an interest.

4- All-Star coaching staff selections will be made by SCLL League Leadership.  Coaching selections will be notified by League Leadership.

5- Player/Team selections will be determined by SCLL League Leadership, Regular Season Coaching Staff, and All-Star Team Coaching Staff as a collective effort.  Please note that both tryout performance & regular season performance will be factored into selections. 

6- The number of players interested in the all-star team will determine if a tryout is needed.  Example, if 12 players are interested in the All-Star team for a 12-person team, no tryout is needed.

7- Parents/legal guardians will receive players selection results via email along with next steps for All-Star team/tournament preparations, practice schedules, etc.

Little League All Star Tournament for LL ages 8-14 (Baseball/Softball):

*LL All Star tournament is played accordingly to rules/regulations outlined here, Rulebook App - Little League & Little League Rules, Regulations, and Policies

*12 player minimum teams (team numbers will be determined by SCLL league leadership)

*District tournament location(s) & schedule is established once local league participation is known.  District tournament play may have multiple locations.

*team practice schedules are determined by head coach

*a player fee (TBD) is required to assist with All Star expenses (ex: uniforms)

*Little Major teams (little league age 8-10) will compete in a local district tournament in which the district tournament winner will be invited to the State tournament

*9-10-11 teams (little league age 9-11) will compete in a local district tournament in which the district tournament winner will be invited to the State tournament.  *this age division is a LL All Star tournament only option within SCLL and does not occur during regular season.  *for softball 9-10-11 division and up will use a 12” ball use with a 40 ft. pitching mound.

*Major teams (little league age 10-12) will compete in a local district tournament in which the district tournament winner will be invited to the State tournament.  The State tournament winner(s) are invited to represent Michigan on the road to the Little League World Series

*Junior teams (little league age 12-14) will compete in a local district tournament in which the district tournament winner will be invited to the State tournament.  The State tournament winner(s) are invited to represent Michigan on the road to the Little League World Series

Document requirements:

1- turn in documents with parent/legal guardian signatures to Head Coach.  SCLL league leadership will manage district level & SCS signature requirements in a consolidated fashion. 

2- Players returning to All-Star tournament play from previous seasons, duplicate document completion is not required.  Once documents are on file for your player, they are good for your players time with LL.
