About the TJYCA Board

The Thomas Jefferson Youth Cheer Association (TJYCA) Board serves as the dedicated governing body of TJ Youth Cheer. Comprised of parent volunteers of active cheerleaders, the Board is responsible for guiding the vision, growth, and success of the organization. Each board position is filled through a nomination process, with members serving two-year terms and eligible for re-election at the end of each term.

Board members meet monthly from January through December, contributing their time, talent, and leadership on a volunteer basis. All applicants must have current and valid Pennsylvania clearances.

Our Board’s mission is to foster an inclusive and supportive environment for all cheerleaders, promote the fundamentals of cheerleading, and build spirit within our community by proudly supporting our TJ Youth Football teams. With a strong commitment to excellence and development, we strive to make TJ Youth Cheer a positive and enriching experience for all involved.

President -Abby Conley

Abby now serves as the President of TJYCA. She joined the TJYCA Board in 2023 as Fundraising Chair, then served as Secretary, followed by Vice President, before stepping into her current leadership role.

Heading into her sixth year of coaching, Abby continues to bring dedication, positivity, and strong leadership to the program. She has received outstanding feedback from parents for her clear communication and consistent support throughout the season.

Abby’s strong organizational skills and collaborative spirit help ensure the program runs smoothly and efficiently. Her daughters, Nora and Grace, have been part of the program for five and four years respectively, further strengthening her connection to TJYCA and its mission.

Abby also assists in maintaining the Coaches Manual and By-Laws, contributing to the continued growth and success of the organization.

Vice President – Amanda Rapach

Amanda currently holds the position of Vice President. She is a proud mother of two children, Hope and Eli. Her daughter, Hope, has been actively involved as a cheerleader for the past four years, fostering a strong connection for Amanda with the program and its traditions.

In her capacity as Vice President, Amanda assists the President in providing organizational leadership, serves as the primary point of contact for all parent inquiries and concerns, and oversees the entire registration process  Amanda supports board initiatives and assigned projects, among other duties.
Amanda has previously held other roles within TJYCA, including Banquet Co-Coordinator and Secretary. Her meticulous attention to detail and dedication to the program make her a valuable member of the TJYCA leadership team.

Secretary - Samantha Kaufman

Samantha Kaufman currently serves as the secretary for the board. Her role involves accurately recording minutes for Board and general meetings, working with the Technology Coordinator to post these minutes online, and promptly distributing agendas and notices. It includes maintaining official records like bylaws and Board actions, managing correspondence, and keeping digital archives organized. Additionally, the responsibilities entail applying for local permits, reserving meeting spaces, assisting with posting approved documents, maintaining email accounts for Board members, and managing a master calendar of events and deadlines.

Previously, Samantha held the position of Fundraising Co-Coordinator. Samantha is the proud mom of two daughters, Peyton and Addy. Peyton is a graduate of the youth cheer program, and Addy is currently in her first year with TJYCA, giving Samantha a valuable perspective as both a long-time supporter and a current cheer parent.

Banquet Co- Coordinator – Denise Huenefeld

As Banquet Chair, Denise coordinated the banquet’s date, location, catering, entertainment, trophies, and communication—working closely with the Board and Treasurer to ensure a successful and memorable event.

Denise served in this role for the 2024 season, bringing creativity, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills to the planning process. Her efforts played a key role in creating a special end-of-season celebration for our athletes and families.

Previously, Denise served as a Fundraising Co-Chair on the 2023 TJYCA Board and has supported fundraising efforts within the WJHSD PTA for several years. Her commitment to the organization and community has made a lasting impact.

Denise has two daughters, Avery and Peyton. Avery has been part of the TJYCA family since 2021.

Fundraising Co-Coordinator - Kayla Andrews

Kayla Andrews has been with TJYCA since 2020 when her daughter Emery joined. She began coaching in 2021 and has brought valuable cheer and dance experience to our younger squads. Kayla joined the Board as Fundraising Chair in 2020, helping families earn up to 50% back through fundraising to offset uniform costs. She also served as a Banquet Chair in 2023 and Community Day Chair in 2024.
Kayla’s dedication and leadership continue to make a big impact on our organization. Her younger daughter, Leona, also joined the program and has been cheering for the past two years.

Technology Coordinator – Candice Mendicino

Candice has been an active member of the TJYCA community for several years. Her daughter Gianna has participated in TJYCA for the past four seasons. Candice currently serves as a coach for the 3rd and 4th grade squads, bringing her dedication and experience to the field. Prior to coaching, she supported the teams as a team mom each year for her daughter’s squads.

As Technology Chair, Candice is responsible for managing and maintaining TJYCA’s digital platforms to ensure timely, accurate, and effective communication with families, coaches, board members, and the community. This role supports the organization’s operations, events, and season activities through technology and media coordination. 

Uniform Co-Coordinator - Jessie Foltz

Jessie handles uniform sizing, ordering, and distribution, while scheduling fittings and organizing board help. Keeps in touch with vendors maintains an inventory of uniforms and accessories, and collaborates with the Treasurer on reimbursements and paperwork. Other duties include exchanges and vendor issues, supporting coaches with their uniform needs, and providing timelines for the Secretary and Technology Coordinator for posting updates.
