Hamel Little League Tournament Teams

ALL-STAR TEAMS

All-Star teams for 9–12-year-olds are selected based on head coaches' input and consultation with the Hamel Athletic Club Board.

All-Star players participate in weekend practices beginning in early June (note: these are in addition to regular season team commitments), and post-season tournaments on weekdays and weekends from early July (right after the 4th) through the first week of August.

Below are details on the tournaments (subject to change year by year) in which Hamel typically participates:

Little League International Tournament:
The pinnacle of Little League baseball is the Little League World Series ("LLWS") played every August in Williamsport, PA. The LLWS is a worldwide event, involving 8 U.S. teams and 8 International teams. The teams that reach the LLWS consist of the top 12-year-olds from a given league that have competed and won at the District, State, and Regional levels. Although only the 12-year-old All-Star team can make it to the LLWS, each league may select All-Star and Select teams at the 12-, 11-, 10-, and 9-year-old levels (pending enrollment and player availability).

  • The 9's compete only at the District level.
    • Typically July 5 - July 25
  • The 10's and 11's compete at the District and, if they advance, the State level.
    • Districts: July 5 - July 25
    • State: July 26 - August 5
  • The 12-year-old team that wins the District tournament proceeds to the State tournament. The team that wins the State tournament advances to a Regional tournament. The winner of the Regional tournament will head to Williamsport, PA for an incredible experience!
    • Districts: June 21 - July 17
    • State: July 18 - August 1
    • Regionals: August 2 - August 9
    • Little League World Series: August 14 - August 25 in Williamsport, PA
Additional Tournaments:
All-Star teams that do not advance past the District tournament typically enroll in an additional tournament that occurs in late July or early August.

SELECT TEAMS

Hamel may also form "Select" teams at multiple ages/combined age groups for the next tier of players (skill-based) that are not selected for an All-Star team. "Select" teams, if formed, typically participate in 1-2 local (West Metro) "invitational" tournaments from July 6 - August 10. These tournaments occur on weekdays and multiple weekends, depending on how far teams advance.

COST

The cost to play on a tournament team is $225. This fee will offset tournament entry fees and player apparel.

The cost to play on an 8U Select team is $50.
