Code of Conduct

In sports, as in life, clear rules are essential. They create expectations that foster discipline and respect among team members, coaches, and supporters. Rules ensure everyone knows what is required of them, contributing to a safe, positive, and competitive environment. Our guidelines help maintain the integrity of our team and ensure that each member, whether on or off the field, carries the pride of the Hurricanes. By adhering to these rules, we promote a culture of respect, fairness, and teamwork, which is crucial for our collective success and growth.

Team Rules for the Hurricanes

  1. Parental Presence Requirement: For the safety and well-being of all athletes, parents must accompany their children to all practices and conditioning sessions. It is essential for a parent to be immediately accessible, not merely present in the parking lot, in case of an emergency or if urgent contact is necessary. This policy is in place to ensure rapid response and support for our athletes when needed.

  2. Professional Conduct: No backtalk to any Coach, Board Member, or Hurricanes Volunteers. Let's keep it professional.

  3. Mutual Respect: Respect each other and listen to your coaches at every practice.

  4. Field Access: Parents, please stay off the practice fields unless a coach calls you out.

  5. Punctuality: Get your kid to practice on time. If you're running late, give your coach a heads-up.

  6. Cleanliness: Clean up after yourselves—toss your trash in the cans around our facility.

  7. Hydration: Make sure your child drinks plenty before, during, and after practice. We'll have water available at games.

  8. Weather Preparedness: Weather can be tricky; unless you hear from us through the team app that practice is off, show up ready to go.

  9. Volunteer Participation: Remember, this organization runs on volunteer power. We need every family to pitch in where they can.

  10. Positive Encouragement: All players, parents, and coaches must support each other through positive comments and actions only. Negative cheering and bullying are strictly prohibited.

  11. Attendance Policy: Players are expected to attend all practices and games. Excused absences must be communicated to the coach in advance.

  12. Equipment Responsibility: Players are responsible for bringing their own equipment in good condition to every practice and game.

  13. Safety First: Safety is our top priority. All players must wear appropriate gear and adhere to safety guidelines at all times.

  14. Respect for Officials: Players must respect all decisions made by referees and officials.

  15. No Discrimination: Discrimination of any kind is not tolerated. Our team promotes equality and respects diversity.

  16. Parental Involvement: Parents are encouraged to support team activities and functions, maintaining appropriate boundaries to not interfere with coaching or game play.

  17. Conflict Resolution: Any conflicts among players, coaches, or parents will be resolved through a designated mediation process or by a designated official.

  18. Social Media Conduct: Players and parents must adhere to appropriate behavior on social media to uphold the team’s reputation and privacy.

These rules are designed to foster a supportive, respectful, and competitive environment, ensuring all participants enjoy a positive sports experience with the Hurricanes.
