Rainouts, Practice Delays, and Cancellations

In Florida, the rainy season spans from May through mid-October, frequently affecting our scheduled practices. To manage these disruptions:

  • Communication: Updates on practice delays or cancellations will be promptly communicated through the GroupMe app. Please refrain from asking if practice is still on; rest assured, we are continuously monitoring the weather and will inform you of any changes.

Remember, weather conditions can vary greatly across the region—it might be raining at your location while it's sunny at the practice fields.

Football Practice Policy

  • Rain Conditions: Football practice will continue in rainy conditions provided there is no lightning present and the fields are not excessively saturated. While wet fields pose no immediate safety risk, preserving the quality of our grass fields is a priority.

Cheer Practice Policy

  • Safety First: Due to the risks associated with stunting and tumbling on wet surfaces, cheer practices will likely be delayed or canceled in heavy rain conditions.

Our aim is to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants while minimizing disruptions to our scheduled activities. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding as we navigate Florida's unpredictable weather.

LIGHTNING / SEVERE WEATHER

Lightning Protocol

  • Detection and Response: If lightning is detected within 5 miles by our lightning detector, all practices or games will be immediately suspended. Athletes must seek shelter in their parent’s vehicle. Please note that the concession stand awning does not provide adequate shelter, and the Barn is not large enough to accommodate everyone safely.

  • Resumption of Activities: Activities will resume 30 minutes after the last detected lightning strike within a 5-mile radius.

Safety and Communication

  • Coaches’ Responsibilities: Coaches will maintain a head count of all participants at each practice. At the first sign of lightning, coaches will direct everyone to head to their vehicles but not to leave the premises. We will assess the situation regarding whether to wait out the storm or call off practice.

  • Staying Informed: Updates will be provided through the GroupMe app. It’s crucial for the safety of our coaches, players, and parents that these guidelines are followed strictly.

Please adhere to these protocols diligently to ensure the safety of all participants during severe weather conditions.
