Q: What is NJ Elite Flag Football League's style of play?
A: NJ Elite Flag Football League is a 6 vs. 6 non-contact, competitive co-ed format league.
Q: Who can play?
A: The league is open to boys and girls in grades 2 - 9. Participants from any city can register for any of our programs.
Q: How are the divisions broken down?
A: Our divisional breakdown is as follows:
PeeWee Division: Max Grade 4 (recommended for grades 2-4)
Junior Division:Max Grade 6 (recommended for grades 5-6)
Senior Division:Max Grade 9 (recommended for grades 7-9)
We offer flexibility for parents to register their children in higher divisions if they believe their child would benefit from a more challenging level.
Q: Do we accept team registrations?
A: Yes, we do. Coaches can email us at [email protected] with their roster.
Q: How many players will be on each team?
A: Most teams will have 10-12 players, but this may vary if necessary. Preformed teams can have more than 12 players, but we recommend 12 to ensure ample playing time for everyone. If your preformed team lacks enough players, free agents will be added to reach the minimum roster size.
Q: How are free agents placed on teams?
A: Individuals are placed on teams based on school, town, buddy requests, and grade. Teams are formed using a combination of these criteria:

Buddy request
Q: How many teams will be in each division?
A: Each division can hold up to 8 teams. Once we reach this limit, team registration will close. Interested teams can either join a waitlist or sign up as free agents to be placed on teams with available spots.
Q: When are practices?
A: Practice times and locations are designated by the team's coach.
Q: Does the league supply uniforms?
A: Yes, each player receives an NFL reversible team jersey and a flag belt with registration.
Q: Who are the coaches?
A: Coaches are parent volunteers. NJ Elite Flag Football League does not hire coaches. Parents will be recruited to coach their child's team. If a team cannot secure a coach, the team may be disbanded and refunded.
Q: Who are the officials and are they qualified?
A: Officials are certified and provided by the league.
Q: What do I get for my registration fee?
A: The fee includes six regular-season games and one playoff game. (Please note: A championship game will given for playoff winners only.) It also covers the use of well-groomed fields, certified officials, an NFL FLAG reversible team jersey, flag belt, organized administration, and a fun experience for your child!
Q: How many games are played in the season?
A: All teams are guaranteed 7 games: 6 regular season games and 1 playoff game. Only the teams that win their playoff games will advance to the championship game. Teams that lose in the playoffs are eliminated and will not play in the championship. No seeding games or 3rd place games will be scheduled..
Q: Are there playoffs and a championship game?
A: Yes, each division will have one playoff game, with the winning team advancing to a championship game.
Q: What types of awards are given?
A: Each player on the championship teams will receive a trophy.
Q: Do all flag football players need mouthpieces?
A: Yes, mouthpieces are mandatory for all players on the field.
Q: Where are the games played and how is the schedule arranged?
A: Games are held at the turf field in East Brook Middle School, Paramus, NJ (190 Spring Valley Rd, Paramus, NJ). Games are tentatively scheduled between 11:00 am - 1:00 pm on Sundays, with the youngest division playing first. Schedules will be posted 1-2 weeks before the season starts.
