NEW JERSEY ELITE FLAG FOOTBALL

Parent FAQ's

We’ve compiled a list of frequently asked questions that we hope you find helpful as you continue your journey with us this season.

Who can participate?

Participants from any city are welcome! Our league is open to boys and girls aged 5 (as of the registration deadline) through 12th grade, up to 17 years of age. The Tiny Elites program is designed for Kindergarten–2nd grade players as an introduction to organized flag football.

How do I register?

All registrations are completed online through our website. Families must create an account and verify a valid email address to complete registration.

What do I get for my registration fee?

Your registration fee includes a seven-week season (grades 3-12), access to well-maintained fields, certified officials, an NFL FLAG reversible team jersey, a flag belt and flags, an interactive website, organized administration, and plenty of fun for your child!

Does the league supply uniforms?

Yes. Each participant receives an NFL FLAG team jersey and flag belt as part of registration. Shorts or pants must be pocket-free for safety and are not provided by the league.

Do all flag football players need mouthpieces?

Yes, mouthguards are mandatory for all practices and games. Mouthguards may be available for purchase on-site, with payment accepted via Zelle.

How are players placed on teams?

Players are placed based on grade/age, buddy or coach requests, and location. We do our best to accommodate friend requests while maintaining balanced teams.

How many players are on a team?

Most teams have 10–11 players per season, depending on the total number of participants in each division.

Who are the coaches?

Our coaches are volunteers—usually parents, relatives, or friends of players. Training is provided, and no prior experience is required. If a coach cannot be secured, the team may be disbanded and registration refunded.

What qualifications are needed to be a coach?

No experience is required! All coaches must pass a background check and attend the coaches zoom meeting.

How many volunteer coaches per team?

Each team may have up to two volunteer coaches — a Head Coach and an Assistant Coach. If a Head Coach is unavailable, two Assistant Coaches can serve together.

What are the coaches’ responsibilities?

The Head Coach leads the team and provides guidance for the staff. The Assistant Coach supports the Head Coach or shares responsibilities with another Co-Coach for practices and games.

Who are the officials?

All officials are trained and have prior playing or officiating experience in flag football. Their expertise ensures a fair, safe, and competitive environment for all players.

Are there playoffs?

Yes! All divisions participate in playoffs to conclude the season.

What types of awards are given?

Championship winners receive official NJ Elite Championship rings to celebrate their achievement!
