Volunteer Opportunities

As a volunteer, you should be interested in the safety, well-being and overall development of our youth. We need volunteers of all skill-sets and experience. If you are a parent of a player, you are strongly encouraged to volunteer.

See below for all the different types of volunteer opportunities at NWLL. If you are interested in volunteering for any of these roles, please fill out our Volunteer Form here. You can also let your coach know if you are interested in being the Team Parent.

Umpires please learn more/register via the Umpires Tab

Team Parent (This role is a requirement for every team)

  • Managing team volunteer list for concessions, announcer/scoreboard for their scheduled games (we can not start games without these volunteers)

  • Coordinating team snacks (if needed)

  • Assist Coaches with team uniform distribution

  • Assist Coaches with team communications

  • Keep families informed throughout season

  • Send pre-game reminders (who is going to work concessions, keep score and bring snacks). Templates can be provided.

  • Share information you receive from the coach or league with families (and vice versa). Encourage parents to tag NWLL in social media posts.

  • Organize end of season party/coach recognition (fun - not required)

Concessions

All Teams must have volunteers to run concessions when they are the HOME team. All concession volunteers must be age 14+. Duties would include not only selling but restocking and making sure the concessions buildings are picked up. Concessions are located at field 1, field 2 & between fields 3 & 4 (Sugar Shack).

Merchandise

Please sign up to sell merch. We can’t open the shop without you. The shop should be open before/during games and during special events. A shift sign-up will be sent out once the game schedule is finalized and posted.

Scorekeeper/Pitch Count

This job requires an attention to detail and ability to pay attention to every pitch of the game. Scorekeepers may work from the field house or the stands depending on their preference. Training sessions can be scheduled, in the meantime here is a video and “How To” for using the scorebook. The scorekeeper may also work with another volunteer for pitch count.

Announcer/Scoreboard (Instructions in the pressbox above concessions on Field 1 & 2)

Each team is required to provide an announcer during games when they are the VISITING team. The announcer introduces players, leads the teams in the national anthem, and announces players from both teams during games. The announcer may also operate the scoreboard or work with another volunteer in the press box.

Special Events

  • Assisting with specialty vendors, food trucks, bounce houses, etc.
  • Assisting with set up/tear down (signage, tables, flyers, etc)

Please remember our NWLL Zero Tolerance Policies: Verbal abuse in any form of umpires, league officials, coaches, players or spectators is prohibited. Respect for and adherence to all league rules, policies, and guidelines is expected. This is a recreational league, and one of our goals is to cultivate the love of the game.

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with NWLL! Your support is essential to providing a great experience for our players.
