Manager Responsibilities

LOGGING GAMES

Upon completion of each game, for the farms division and higher divisions, the Team Manager is responsible to ensure that the final score is entered into the official group me for their division.  In addition, for baseball divisions each players pitch count should also be posted, and for softball divisions the number of innings pitched should be posted. This should be done the same day the game is completed so the information is available prior to the start of the next day's games.

This will enable the information officer to report accurate standings on this website, as well as provide each team manager the ability to ensure that the opposing team is following the pitcher eligibility rules with regard to pitch count and innings pitched.

VOLUNTEER FORM AND BACKGROUND CHECK

Each year all Little League Volunteers are required to fill out Volunteer forms and go through a Background check. If you would like to Volunteer as a Manager or Coach for the season you must go through the background check screening process.

JDP, the provider of background check screening services for Little League, has integrated their technologies to make the volunteer registration process easier by including the ability to conduct national background checks on local and district volunteers. This integration of these technologies allows for the registration of volunteers and the initiation of their  background checks to be done directly through Sports Connect.

Practice Booking (Fields & Outdoor Cage)

FIELD AVAILABILITY AND USAGE

The 3 fields at the facility can be booked for practice by coaches when not in use for games or other scheduled events. Check the field schedule for availability.  Please note we often have more than 50 teams attempting to schedule time. We have processes in place to give everyone an equal chance to book a field but coaches should consider using local public fields as practice options as well since the 3 fields and limited time slots will not be enough to get in consistent practices.

Field Booking Availability

  • Practice reservations are for a max 2 hour duration.

  • You can only have one field reserved at a time. This is to allow all teams a chance to book the field.

  • Once you use your time slot you can book another.

Field Practice Rules

  • End practices on time and exit the field so the next practice or game can start on time.

  • Fields 2 and 3 must be dragged after every practice.

  • Clear the dugouts of any garbage.

  • No gum or seeds on any of the fields and no gum or seeds in the dugout on field 1.

  • If there is no game after your practice, fields 2 & 3 cover the plate area with the tarp.

  • If there is a game after your practice you must be off the field , out of dugouts, and field dragged 30 minutes prior to start of the game.

  • If you book practice before your game you should be out of the infield 30 minutes prior.  Both teams should warm up in the outfield while the infield is prepped for the game.

Outdoor Cage Booking Availability

  • The two outdoor cages can be booked by coaches. Check the field schedule for availability.

  • Outdoor cages will not be available during games and 15 minutes prior to games for safety reasons

  • Outdoor cage reservations are for max 1 hour duration

  • You can only have one cage reserved at a time. This is to allow all teams a chance to book the cages.

  • Once you use your time slot you can book another.

Cage Rules

  • All  players in the cages MUST WEAR A HELMET in the cage.

  • Players must be supervised by a coach when in the cages.

  • Never leave players in the cages unattended with the pitching machines

  • Players outside the cages must be supervised and should not be swinging bats.

  • Coaches should use an L screen while throwing Batting Practice.

  • If a team is using a batting machine, it must be disconnected and covered up when finished.

  • End batting practices on time and exit the cage.

PLEASE FOLLOW THE RULES, THEY ARE THERE TO KEEP THE KIDS SAFE, IF ANY OF THE ABOVE RULES ARE NOT FOLLOWED YOU WILL LOSE THE OPPORTUNITY TO RESERVE CAGES IN THE FUTURE

How to Book a Field or Cage

  1. Look at the Field schedule at www.sshll.org to see what is available.

  2. Text Rob at  +1 (917) 284-1845 with your Team Name, Field # or Outdoor Cage #,along with the day and time slot you are requesting

  3. Only coaches should be texting in requests, not parents

  4. The requests will be honored in the order they are received.

    • There is a chance the spot is open on the calendar but someone else reached out to reserve it before you so the reservation is not confirmed until it is on the site and you have received a confirmation. If you do not hear back, assume you have NOT reserved the spot.

  5. Check your reservation for accuracy on the field schedule after your reservation is confirmed and report any discrepancies.
