Drafts

  1. Keepers:

    • Coaches may select up to five keepers:
      • Keepers include the coach’s own children or players they coached last season.
    • Keepers do not try out and are automatically assigned during the draft.
  2. Hat Picks:

    • Players who do not attend tryouts are placed into a hat pick pool.
    • Their names are drawn randomly at the end of the draft to balance rosters.
  3. Draft Order:

    • After tryouts, coaches draw numbers to determine draft order.
    • Draft uses a snake format:
      • Round 1: Coach 1 picks first, Coach 2 second, etc.
      • Round 2: Order reverses (last coach picks first).
  4. Draft Process:

    • A board member runs the draft, announcing players in tryout ranking order.
    • Coaches draft:
      • Keepers first (counted as early picks).
      • Remaining players round by round.
      • Hat picks last, ensuring teams reach 10-12 players.

Goals

  • Ensure fairness and balance across all teams.
  • Allow continuity with keepers while giving all players a chance to be placed.
