Overview

Challenge Baseball is our advanced program for players seeking stronger competition and a greater time commitment.

We field teams for ages 7U through 15U, giving players opportunities to develop and compete at every stage of youth baseball. Teams train at a faster pace, face higher-level opponents, and compete primarily on weekends. Schedules may include two-day tournaments (e.g., Top Gun, Perfect Game) as well as single-day tournaments (e.g., HQ4, QCBL), in addition to scrimmages.

Participation requires consistent practice attendance, weekend availability, some regional travel, and additional costs for tournament fees. The program emphasizes skill development, baseball IQ, coachability, and sportsmanship while preparing players for the next level of play.

Eligibility

A player’s age for Challenge Baseball is determined by their age on April 30th of the upcoming spring season; for fall teams, eligibility is based on the age they will be on April 30th of the following year.

Team Selection

Tryouts for each age group are held in the fall and spring. Player selection for Challenge teams considers multiple factors. Tryout performance is one input alongside prior challenge and rec seasons, demonstrated skills and playable positions, attitude, coachability, and baseball IQ.

If an age group has sufficient players and coaching, a second Challenge team may be formed.

Fall Challenge Policy:

During the fall season, players selected for a Challenge team are permitted to participate in Challenge only and may opt out of Recreational (REC) baseball. This policy is intended to support and encourage multi-sport athletes by allowing greater flexibility in seasonal commitments.

Spring Challenge Policy:

All 9U teams and younger are required to participate in both the Challenge program and the Recreational (REC) program during the spring season. Beginning at 10U, only the primary (first) Challenge team may be permitted to participate in Challenge only, provided the team is deemed competitive and developmentally ready by the Baseball Board and receives approval to do so. Please note: Any player who does not participate in the REC program during the spring season will be ineligible for selection to an All-Star team.
