The spring season in Little League baseball marks the start of a fresh competitive environment for young athletes, typically beginning in April and running through June. During this time, East Fullerton Little League will host organized games and practices, giving children ages 4 to 15 the opportunity to develop their skills in the sport of baseball. Teams are usually divided by age groups, with coaching focusing on teaching the fundamentals of the game, such as hitting, fielding, and base running, while also emphasizing the importance of teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship. Spring season games often take place on Saturdays with one weekday game after school, providing a chance for players to compete in a supportive environment. This season not only introduces young players to the joys of baseball but also fosters community involvement, with parents and volunteers playing an essential role in organizing and supporting the league.

Draft Procedure (Players Ages 7-15)
The Little League draft is designed to distribute talent fairly across teams while keeping things fun and balanced for the players.
Before Draft Day, your child will attend a player evaluation – this isn't about making or not making a team! It's just so coaches can see each player's current skills in hitting, throwing, fielding and running. Every registered player gets placed on a team, guaranteed. The evaluation just helps create balanced teams where kids can thrive and have fun.
How do Teams get picked?
Coaches take turns selecting players. The order switches each round (if a coach picks last in round 1, they get first pick in round 2).
Can I request a specific team or division?
In an effort to keep things fair and balanced, we do not take requests. Player placement is determined solely by the draft. (Exception: Sibling requests are considered when developmentally appropriate for both players.)
What if my child doesn't know anyone?
Don't worry! Kids make new friends quickly, and team bonding is a big part of the Little League experience.
What equipment do we need?
If you are new to baseball, wait until after team assignments - your coach can help you select appropriate gear.
Remember, the draft is just the beginning. The real fun starts when teams hit the field and kids start making memories that'll last a lifetime! Feel free to ask our league Player Agent if you have specific questions about the draft rules.
What to expect at Evaluations
All draft eligible players will go through the following :
-Outfield : Catch 3 pop flies in Right Field position and throw to home
-Infield : Field 3 grounders in Short Stop position and throw to 1st base
-Batting : Bat at 5 swings from coach/machine pitch (speed varies by age). Last pitch, player will run the bases after swing- regardless if ball is put in play.
Athletic attire and baseball cleats are advised. Player should bring a helmet, bat, and glove. Bats must be USA stamped.
