Otsego Junior Cheer

Otsego Junior Cheer

Parents Code of Conduct

  • Do not force your child to participate in Cheerleading.  They should sign up to cheer because they have a strong desire to do so.

  • Do not embarrass your child by yelling at the coaches, officials, parents or other cheerleaders.  By exhibiting a positive attitude, your child will benefit.

  • Encourage your athlete to play/cheer by the rules.  Children learn best by example, so applaud the good play of both teams.

  • Support the coaches and officials, on and off the field.  Coaches are all volunteers, who are doing their best.  Without them, there would be no Junior Cheer program.  Criticism of coaches and officials only hurts the situation.

  • Applaud a good effort in victory and in defeat, reinforcing the positive points of the game and player/cheerleader development.  Work to remove the physical and verbal abuse in youth sports.

Parent Rules

  • Refrain from helping the cheerleaders during practices and/or games if you do not have a background check on file with Otsego Junior Cheer. (We are separate from the school; school background checks are not compatible.)

  • Be there for one reason, the kids.

  • No parent is to approach the players/cheerleaders or coaches in a negative way during the games/practices.

  • No verbal abuse of any coach, player/cheerleaders or official during a game/practice.

  • All cheerleader concerns are to be discussed between the cheerleader, coach and parent outside of a game/practice, in private.

  • Cheer and encourage verses criticize and demean.

  • Read your Cheerleader her Cheer Rules and help make sure she adheres to them.

  • If there is a problem, please take 24 hours to think about how you want to approach it and then contact either the coach or myself.
