The Ridgewood Raiders Travel Softball Program offers a more competitive format for girls who are committed to improving their skills and becoming a dedicated team member throughout the season (April to the end of July).
Every year, our overarching goal is to place as many girls as possible on a team, with the expectation of a good experience. We strive for player development, competitive teams and a positive environment, with everyone working to improve their skills and being a supportive teammate.
Travel players are required to play and hopefully be leaders on their recreational softball teams. Travel team schedules aim to avoid conflicts with rec games, though on some occasions it is unavoidable. When this happens the travel players must attend rec games. Scheduling usually consists of weekend nights and/or Sunday afternoons in the spring and weeknights in the summer, in addition to a practice schedule, which will vary from team to team. Tournaments for our older teams, may include an overnight trip. Our Travel Softball calendar ends at the end of October with the annual Travel Softball Banquet.
What are the costs?
Depending on the number of games and tournaments a team enters, the cost for the season (April through July) can range from $300 to $600 per player, with the norm somewhere between those two figures.
What happens pre-season?
Every season begins with Pre-Winter Workout/Winter Workout programs, commencing in November. These are optional programs and a commitment is not required to participate in the travel program.
