PLAYERS CODE OF CONDUCT (Updated 12/2024)
I will treat all players, coaches, umpires, parents, and spectators with dignity and respect, as I would like to be treated, using appropriate language in appropriate tones when interacting with them.
I understand that the use of any controlled substances (alcohol, drugs, tobacco - including vaping, etc.) is strictly prohibited at any MHAA event or on park property, including parking lots
I will arrive on time for all team related functions. As a member of the team, I have a responsibility to the other team players to be at practices and games.
If I am unable to attend any practices or games, I will call, text, or email my coach (24 hrs. notice if possible).
I will seek to become the best athlete I can be by practicing appropriately, trying my hardest on the field, and concentrating on the play of the game. I will learn to take corrections as a compliment.
I will win and lose graciously, demonstrating good sportsmanship throughout games and practices.
I will be honest and take responsibility for my actions and results.
I will not use any form of intimidation or bullying against another player, coach, or umpire / referee. I will respect their opinions and judgement.
I will not intentionally attempt to injure others.
I will play for the team and not myself.
I will support my teammates and have a positive impact on my team.
I will encourage and assist my teammates, giving encouragement and support in success and struggle.
I will learn the rules of the game, so that I may understand and appreciate why certain situations take place.
I will recognize and show appreciation for an outstanding play by either team.
I will only use cheers that support the teams involved.
I will not leave the dugout during a game without the coach's permission.
I will not respond to any negative comments from parents or supporters. I will immediately inform my coach if a spectator is being inappropriate.
I will wear the appropriate uniform, practice attire, and protective equipment whenever I’m on the field.
If I have any questions about playing time, positioning, or strategy I will approach my coach fore/after games or practices, understanding that my coach has a lot of responsibilities and may not be able to provide an adequate answer at the time. If age appropriate, a player can email or message a coach.
I am a student-athlete and understand that if I am failing at school, I will not be able to play sports at MHAA.
There is no such thing as a “right” to play for MHAA. MHAA events are considered a “privilege” and I will conduct myself accordingly.
Ejected Player – If a player is ejected from a game, no matter the reason, they will serve a minimum one game suspension before being allowed back onto the field. If a player is ejected twice in one season, that player will be suspended from further competition for MHAA that season. Once ejected a player must leave the field and bench/dugout immediately. They should watch the remainder of the game with their guardian on the bleachers
