Introduction to Robotics

The perfect robotics experience for grades 3–5.

No prior experience required.
This 4-week, hands-on robotics program introduces students to building and coding using the VEX IQ robotics system. Designed specifically for beginners, this course helps kids build confidence, learn problem-solving skills, and explore STEM in a fun, supportive environment.

Students work in small teams to build real robots, learn beginner-friendly block coding, and complete engaging challenges each week. The program focuses on creativity and learning - not competition - making it an ideal first step into robotics.

Length: 4 weeks
Time: 2 hrs/week
Options:
  • Option 1: Mon - Mar 9, 16, 23, 30
  • Option 2: Tue - Mar 10, 17, 24, 31

What Kids Will Learn:
  • Build and drive a real robot
  • Learn block-based coding
  • Use sensors to make robots react
  • Work in small teams
  • Explain how their robot works
  • No competition. Just confidence.

This program is the first step in The Mind Spark Robotics Pathway, leading into:
  • VEX IQ Builders Program
  • VEX IQ Competition Teams (Elementary and Middle School)
  • VEX V5 Competition Teams (Middle and High School)
