The observation tower at Tomahawk Creek Middle School is complete and it will really add another dimension to our home field atmosphere. This project was a huge undertaking and we managed to complete it with minimal financial investment.  Our Woolridge families stepped up in a significant way with their donation of time, building materials and equipment.  The commitment to the kids in our community is so strong within our Association and we, as the Board of Directors, appreciate all that you do.

The Woolridge Athletic Association would like to extend a special thank you to the following volunteers for their contribution to the successful completion of the observation tower. If we omitted your name, please accept our most sincere apology and understand your contribution was indeed appreciated.

John Garber, Jason Garber, Kip Held — Timber Construction

Jeff Samuels — Heavy Equipment Usage

Jimmy Lane — Concrete & Foundation work

Jackson Bartholomew, Samuel Pulley, Shane Perry, and others —Labor and Construction Support

The many coaches, administrators, and parents that showed up when additional help was needed.

Jeff Hoke has been involved in youth athletics within Chesterfield County.  He joined our Wildcat family five years ago as a coach at the senior level. Jeff has proven himself as a great coach and mentor to the young men in our football program. When Jeff is not coaching and mentoring, he runs a successful timber company, Apache Forest Products. Jeff donated all the timbers and most of the wood needed to construct the tower. Jeff was also responsible for having the official plans drawn up for submission to the county for approval. In addition to providing building products, Jeff also helped with the digging of holes for the footings, laying rebar, and prepping the area for concrete. When it came time to pour the footings, he was there with some of his team to ensure it was done correctly.  We would like to thank Jeff for his donation of time and building materials.

Rob Moore and his wife Pam have been part of the Wildcat family for many years. Their son played on several Woolridge teams throughout the years.  Their daughter is active in cheerleading where Pam has donated her time as a coach over the years. Rob was the announcer for all the home football games last fall. When Rob is not volunteering, he runs metal roofing sales and installation business. When tower construction began, he came forward and donated all the metal roofing for the project and sourced the installation crew to ensure the roof was installed properly. The metal roof not only looks good, but it will also add to the longevity of the observation tower.

Kevin Perry, another member of our Wildcat family, provided the expertise and labor necessary to finish the tower from a carpentry perspective. He donated time away from his business and family to work on this project. Kevin and his staff spent several days and evenings working on the floor, roof, stairs, railings, and countless other items to ensure that we met all Chesterfield County standards for a project like this.

We had great support from so many volunteers, and at the center of all the hard work was David Donaho.  As many of you know, David has a huge passion for youth sports and it was his determination and perseverance that spearheaded the effort that allows the WAA to call Tomahawk Creek Middle School our home field.  David’s enthusiasm is contagious within our program and his ability to orchestrate external vendors, volunteers and county resources has been evidenced throughout his involvement in our Association. Completion of the tower at Tomahawk would not have been possible without his oversight.

This tower is one more step in making our home field at Tomahawk Creek Middle School one of the premier games sites in the county. The Woolridge Athletic Association believes in the benefits of youth athletics and we are committed to providing the best possible opportunities for the kids in our Association.  We can provide great experiences for our kids because we have incredible families that serve as the foundation of our Association.

Thank you,
Woolridge Athletic Association
