INFO FOR ALL GRADES:
-
*Weather cancelations: if Airnow.gov has an index score of >150 at 1:00pm on the day of the event, practices and games will be canceled. This applies to all leagues. In the case of canceled practice, teams are NOT permitted to rent or utilize indoor practice facilities for any sort of physical activity. However, they are still able to host team-bonding activities like pizza parties, chalk talk, etc. We build rosters based off residential location to allow our players to be with their classmates and neighbors.
-
Roster alignment: We do not accept or honor requests to play on a specific team, unless the parent/guardian of the player is in a coaching role. We allow up to two coaches with players per team to be guaranteed a spot on their roster. If there is a third coach who would like to be on that team, they are not guaranteed a spot. This helps us ensure that teams are even in talent and no teams are "stacking" rosters.
-
Practice limitations: 3rd and 4th grade players may have a combined total of three practices/games per week. 5th-8th grade may have up to six total days of practice/games per week.
-
Coaching requirements: In order to coach with CDA JR Tackle, you must successfully pass a background check and must hold an active USA Football Heads Up certification. If you are interested in being a Head Coach, you must interview with the Jr Tackle Board and be selected for the position. If you are applying to be an assistant coach, the decision to bring you on their coaching staff will be left solely to the Head Coach. If a Head Coach for any reason does not need additional assistance or does not wish you add you to their staff, then you will not be permitted to assist in practices or games.
-
Game time: Players in the 3rd and 4th grade will play approximately 50% of the game, depending on team roster size. Game play can be scaled back at the coaches discretion due to players having unexcused practice absences or for misconduct disciplinary measures.
-
Sportsmanship: We require great sportsmanship when it comes to our players, coaches, and parents. Any sideline misconduct by a player, coach, or parent will result in the team being assessed a 15-yard unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. If any individual is flagged multiple times for sideline demeanor, the referee will call a stop to the game and that individual will be asked to leave the field.
-
Changing teams: We do not allow players to request to switch teams from year to year. The only time we will honor this is when a player has a parent who is now coaching a different team, or potentially if the player has a residential relocation.
-
Equipment regulations: Players are not permitted to put decals on their helmets or patches on their uniforms. They also may not use visors on helmets, unless they are integrated in the helmet and clear. Coaches may not require their teams to purchase a certain color sock, glove, or equipment unless that coach is paying for the items himself. Coaches may also not solicit parents to raise money for pizza parties, uniform upgrades, etc. If a coach or parent would like to buy jerseys for the team to use, they must be approved by the league and will be donated at the end of the season. No jerseys will be allowed to have player names printed on the back of them. Pants should be white in color for the 3rd and 4th grade. For grades 5-8, pants can be black or white at the Head Coaches discretion, so please check with your Head Coach. Players will wear rubber or plastic football cleats only (no metal spikes). If you alter Coeur d'Alene Jr Tackle equipment or jerseys in any unauthorized manner you will incur the cost for the replacement of these items. Examples of unauthorized alterations are cutting jerseys, drilling holes into shoulder pads, or helmets etc.
-
Head injuries: Any player suspected of having a head injury or concussion will be removed from the playing field immediately. They will need to have a physician clear them to return to physical activity before they can rejoin the team.
-
Sports physicals: We require players to have an annual sports physical completed in order to participate in any practice or game.
