When is registration?Registration for the season typically runs from November to March. Please visit our Home page for specific information about registration and try-outs.
What if we missed registration?Registrations are accepted up to and including the day of tryouts. If you did not register before tryout day but games have not yet begun, late registrations will be added to a waiting list and will be placed on a team if there is available space on a roster. Please make every attempt to sign up in person or online during the designated registration period.
What equipment will I need? What does PGSA provide? All players will need their own glove. It is encouraged that all players wear cleats (soccer cleats are fine).
PGSA provides each team with bats, helmets, catcher's equipment, and practice equipment including tees and balls. Should your athlete prefer her own bat and batting helmet, she is welcome to bring her own. All helmets for 10U and above must have a face mask.
While they are not required, players are encouraged to wear fielder's masks, particularly if they are inexperienced, have trepidation, or are playing in the higher age groups (10U and above).
Batting gloves are optional but strongly encouraged, particularly in age groups 10U and above.
PGSA provides a practice shirt, jersey, and socks for each player. Players may wear athletic shorts or yoga pants in the younger age groups, but are encouraged to wear softball/baseball pants once they get to 10U and are sliding. Plus, it's much warmer!
When are tryouts?Tryouts for the 2025 season have not yet been announced, but typically are in the last week of February.
Please see our announcements page or follow us on social media for specific details about times and locations.
What can I expect at tryouts? If being held outdoors at Heritage Fields, athletes should wear cleats and appropriate athletic/softball apparel. If being held indoors at a training facility, players should wear regular athletic shoes.
Athletes should bring their own glove. Players are welcome to bring their own bats and batting helmets if they would like, but PGSA will provide extras if your athlete does not have her own. Players will be directed through a series of activities to demonstrate their skills in batting, running, fielding grounders, catching fly balls, and throwing. All players are placed on a team, so there is no need to fear being cut!
Does every age group have tryouts and a draft? No. 6U (tee-ball) and 8U do not have drafts. Players are assigned across teams by the league. 10U, 12U, and Open (13-18) have tryouts and a draft.
When do practices start?Dates are still being determined for the 2025 season, but practices will likely start the first week of March. You will receive your official practice schedule from your coach after the draft, but can expect the following:
8U: 1hr practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting at 5:30 or 6:30
10U: 1hr practice on Mondays and Wednesdays, starting at 5:30 or 6:30
