The Colorado Springs Adult Soccer League was originally founded as the Colorado Springs Soccer Club (CSSC) in 1968. At first, the league was a youth soccer organization, but an adult side was quickly added because the coaches and administrators of the youth program wanted to continue playing. The adult organization was called Soccer Organization for Colorado Springs Youth (SOCSY).
CSSC/SOCSY was the first soccer organization in Colorado Springs and eventually started a high school soccer program that more or less forced District 11 into accepting soccer as a varsity sport. (Soccer was not a popular sport in the late 60s.) All other soccer programs in Colorado Springs were spawned from CSSC. The first sign up for youth to join the program resulted in over 350 boys registering with the program.
The CSSC adult program started with 6 teams and quickly expanded into two divisions of 6 teams followed by further expansion in the men's league and the creation of a women's league.
Eventually, SOCSY was transferred to the Colorado Springs Park and Rec department and became its own adult club around 1978. CSSC continued on as an adult league until 2015 when it was renamed as Colorado Springs Adult Soccer League (COSASL) to make it clear that it is an actual league, not a club, for adults, not youth, to play soccer.
As it was then, many of our current players continue to coach and referee in local youth programs.
