Murfreesboro Warriors Youth Football & Cheerleading is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization whose purpose is to introduce football and cheerleading to 5-12 year old youth in the Murfreesboro area. We are a volunteer-based organization primarily funded by fundraising activities and generous donations from local businesses and individuals.
Originally established as the Murfreesboro Blue Raiders, our organization has been a staple in the Murfreesboro community for decades. Over the years, we competed for and won a number of championships as members of the Mid-State Youth Football League.
In 2013, the Murfreesboro Blue Raiders formed an agreement with Riverdale High School and became the Murfreesboro Warriors. Our organization has since developed a strong relationship with the administration and coaching staff at Riverdale and we are proud to be affiliated with one of the most tradition rich high school football programs in the history of Tennessee athletics.
In order to compete against the newly formed youth football organizations in the Murfreesboro community, the Warriors chose to part ways with the Mid-State Youth Football League in 2015 and became members of the Tennessee Youth Football League (TNYFL). After two successful seasons with the TNYFL, the Warriors decided it would be best to once again differentiate itself from the rest of the Murfreesboro area programs and joined the Tennessee Youth Football Alliance (TYFA).
Since becoming the Murfreesboro Warriors our experiences have been great! Our future is also very bright. Not only are we affiliated with one of the most successful high school football programs (4 State Championships and 5 State Runner-up finishes) in all of Tennessee, we are also a growing program with great coaches, great support, and a great league.
MISSION STATEMENT
It is the mission of the Murfreesboro Warriors to introduce and encourage participation in football and cheerleading to youth in the Murfreesboro community and surrounding areas. The Murfreesboro Warriors provide a comprehensive program that is based on teaching and shaping skills built on the foundation of fundamentals. Our organization will encourage sportsmanship, character growth, and principles of hard work. We will also make every effort to ensure that each child with a desire to participate has the opportunity to do so.
The Murfreesboro Warriors are committed to instilling a variety of core values in our participants. Sportsmanship and safety are our highest priorities. The attitudes, decisions, and actions of our players, coaches, and parents will put these priorities above all else. The emphasis on sportsmanship shall be so evident that anyone who attends any of our games, practices, or meetings will see the difference we are making.
The Murfreesboro Warriors is an organization for young people of all abilities. We will instill in our youth the challenge of competition, the joy of victory, the reality of defeat, and the spirit of team work. We believe these values and virtues are important to their growth in becoming positive forces in our community. The general objectives of Murfreesboro Warriors are to inspire our youth regardless of race, creed, or national origin, to practice the ideals of sportsmanship and physical fitness, and of course to have fun!
FIVE CORE VALUES
Respect
Those associated with sports show respect by treating themselves, other persons, institutions, and their sport according to the highest standards of conduct. It implies civilized and gracious behavior to players, coaches, fans, and parents.
Responsibility
Athletes show responsibility by making academic progress towards graduation their top priority. They solve problems rather than make excuses and are reliable team players. Students should be accountable for their actions and decisions and coaches and administrators should maintain high standards of competence and conduct.
Integrity
For student competitors and their coaches integrity means keeping commitments and conducting honest behavior. Coaches must subscribe to and practice the Coaches Code and Code of Ethics and student athletes must know and understand the Champions of Character Student-Athlete Pledge.
Servant-Leadership
This core value refers to putting the group first and becoming responsible for personal and group roles while performing at your best. Students demonstrating servant leadership have a primary purpose of serving others while striving to become a personal and team leader. The servant-leader provides a critical service to society and the great gift of good example.
Sportsmanship
The conduct of educational sports according to the highest standards is our expectation for sportsmanship. Administrators, coaches, students, fans, and parents are expected to act correctly even when others do not and demonstrate fairness and equity in all contests and relationships.
