Practices
Each team will practice once during the week at Lakeshore Park with the option to practice on Sundays prior to their scheduled game.
Games
Games will be held at Lakeshore Park on Sunday afternoons.
KYS holds a season-ending tournament for our kids that participate in the Kindergarten to 1st Grade League through the 6th to 7th Grade League.
Dates
The regular season will begin after Labor Day, with the post-season tournament to be played during the week of the last regular season game. NO GAMES WILL BE PLAYED ON THE SUNDAY OF FALL BREAK FOR KNOX COUNTY SCHOOLS!
Age Groups
Players will be grouped and compete in the following division of groups according to their current grade:
- Kindergarten to 1st Grade
- 2nd Grade to 3rd Grade
- 4th Grade to 5th Grade
- 6th Grade to 7th Grade
There will be NO WORKOUTS for the 2020 season. Kids will be placed on teams during the coaches meetings.
COACH'S MEETING & DRAFTS WILL BE DETERMINED AT A LATER DATE! HOWEVER, THE FOLLOWING TIMES WILL STAY.
5:30 PM - Coach's Meeting & Draft for Kindergarten to 1st Grade
6:30 PM - Coach's Meeting & Draft for 2nd Grade to 3rd Grade
5:30 PM - Coach's Meeting & Draft for 4th Grade to 5th Grade
6:30 PM - Coach's Meeting & Draft for 6th Grade to 7th Grade
The Coach's Meetings & Drafts will take place at the KYS Office & TVA Pavilion, which is located at the upper baseball fields at Lakeshore Park - behind the Hank Rappe Playground.
Team Selection
We invite assembled teams to register for any of our leagues. (Please note: Any team(s) that register with less than 10 kids will have individual registrants added to their team(s) in order to fill a full roster.) MAX ROSTER IS 10 KIDS PER TEAM.
The coach's child plus those of assistant coaches will be protected during the draft. Any assembled teams with less than 10 kids will have the opportunity to draft individual registrants as the other teams in the league add players and the numbers are even for all teams.
Boys and girls will play in divisions with children in the appropriate grade levels. However, it may be necessary to combine certain groups to field a sufficient number of teams for a league.
We will do our best to fill any special requests as it relates to children playing together, but we cannot guarantee all requests.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Can my child play up a league?
A: As with our other sports, children are welcome to play with older players at their parents' discretion.
Q: Is KYS Flag Football only for boys?
A: No. Girls are certainly welcome, and many have played with KYS.
