Donate to Newton Girls Softball!
Newton Girls Softball (NGS) is an entirely volunteer-run organization. Parents and other volunteers provide coaching, administration, youth umpire training, field preparation and support.
Since the late 1990’s, NGS has offered a place to play softball for children in kindergarten through 8th grade. Our nurturing environment stresses self-esteem, team spirit, skills training, and fun.
Each spring, we run our Rec program. This is an all-comers league — all players are welcome. About 300 Newton families participate.
In summer, we run our travel Panther’s program where tryout-based teams compete in summer tournaments and/or the Middle-Essex league playing other cities. Ages 8 thru 18.
In fall, it’s time for our Charles River teams. This is a hybrid between spring and summer. Our teams play other communities in the area. It’s more competitive than spring, less than summer. The teams are generally a continuation of summer, but more roster spaces are made available for athletes who choose not to play in summer.
Newton Girls Scholarship
In recognition of Doug Clott and Melinda Roman, Newton Girls Softball is again in 2025 awarding a one-time $1,000 scholarship to up to two graduating High School seniors who live in Newton or attend a Newton Public School, who are accepted into a post high school institution of higher education, who have played in Newton Girls Softball recreational or Panther programs for at least three seasons, and who exemplify the values of Newton Girls Softball.
