RUSH Wisconsin Soccer Club

Jon Szczepanski

What is your coaching philosophy?

I believe in giving all the information and instruction in the training sessions.  Most of my coaching is done during these intense trainings.  The games are the exams for the players -- they need to use the information they obtained during the trainings and utilize them during the games.  The players need to be thinkers and problem solvers.

What is your coaching experience?

30+ years Youth Club Coach
Rush Boy’s And Girls coach since 2003
Former Asst. Coach UW Madison
Former Asst. Coach Yale
Former Asst. Coach with Milwaukee Rampage professional soccer (A-League)

Why is Rush special to you?

You can’t beat the Rush soccer community for opportunities that are provided through Rush Select, guest playing with other clubs around the world and international opportunities.

My main focus is player development and creating smart soccer players. I think players need to not only be technical, but also understand why they do an action and how to play an attractive style of soccer. They need the freedom to express themselves on the field, and not be afraid to make mistakes.
