All-Stars

Participation on an All-Star team is a privilege for Managers, Coaches and Players. All-Star Teams will be representing NASA Area Little League and should do so with a high level of sportsmanship and integrity.

Basic Rules and Ages
Little League International (Williamsport, PA) rules state that only players that live or go to school within our League Boundaries are eligible to participate on our all-star tournament teams.

Little League International officially recognizes all-star tournament teams at three divisions. For simplicity, NALL refers to them as 10s, 11s, and 12s.  NALL is part of District 14, which encompasses little leagues on the southeast side of Houston towards Galveston.  For quite some time, District 14 has instituted all-star tournament play at younger divisions as well, beginning at machine pitch.  Again, for simplicity, we'll refer to those teams as 7s, 8s, and 9s (kid pitch).

This accounts for a total of six age divisions, meaning NALL attempts to field six teams.

Manager Selection
NALL convenes an All-Star Manager Selection Committee, which is made up of the President, VP of Baseball, the League Player Agent, and one other executive board member. The league President will make the final decision on which candidates will be offered a manager/coach position.  The appointments will be approved by a majority vote of the Board of Directors.

The manager will be a regular season team manager or coach from the division within which he/she participated and be a parent of one of the elected all-stars.If this is not possible, then the manager and coaches will be selected from the parents of the elected all-stars.

Player Selection for Machine Pitch Division (District 14 Local Tournaments)
The 7-yr old team can be comprised of kids that are League Age 6 and 7.  The 8-yr old team can be comprised of kids that are League Age 7 and 8.

Parents are required to sign a permission form prior to their child being placed on a ballot. The managers of all regular season teams will meet with the President, or VP of Baseball and the League Player Agent. During this meeting each manager will be allowed to discuss the players from his/her team whom that manager feels should be members of the All-Star team.

After the meeting, managers will vote for ten all-star players. Managers cannot vote for members of his/her own team. Ballots will be sealed and held by a member of the Executive Board who does not have a player involved in the league. The top 9 vote-getters will automatically be selected to the All-Star team. In case of a tie for the 9th position, both players will make the team. The person selected as All-Star manager and the Board of Directors Selection Committee will then select additional players from the All-Star ballot to fill the remainder of the team roster. The combined list of All-Stars selected will remain in the possession of the Player Agent or President until the All-Star teams are announced at the conclusion of the regular season Championship game.

Player Selection for Kid Pitch Divisions
The 9-yr old team can be comprised of kids that are League Age 9 only. This is a District 14 Local Tournament.

As mentioned above, the 10s, 11s, and 12s are the divisions officially recognized by Little League International and are eligible to advance past District 14 play if they win the District Championship.

The 10-yr old team can be comprised of kids that are League Age 8, 9, and 10. The 11-yr old team can be comprised of kids that are League Age 9, 10, and 11. The 12-yr old team can be comprised of kids that are League Age 10, 11, and 12.

NOTE:  A kid that is League Age 9 is eligible to play on the 9-yr old team (District 14 Local Tournament) and either a 10-yr old or 11-yr old team.  The two tournaments usually do not overlap so there is no conflict for a League Age 9 player to be considered for those teams.

Parents are required to sign a permission form prior to their child being placed on a ballot.  Players vote for 12 All-Star players. The manager of each regular season team, and one coach selected by the manager, will also vote for 12 All-Star players. Ballots will be sealed and held by a member of the Executive Board who does not have a player involved in the league. The top 6 vote-getters selected by the players will automatically be selected to the All-Star team. The next 4 players to be selected will come from the manager/coach voting.
