When is the Soccer Season?
Soccer season is fall & spring. Example: 2018-19 season runs usually runs from August of 2018 through October of 2018, soccer then resumes usually in April of 2019 through June 2019. Soccer sign ups are for BOTH seasons.
AYSA usually offers seasonal conditioning & foot skills clinics in the off seasons. Winter Soccer sessions usually run January through March. Soccer camps are offered through AYSA and the Amherst High School Soccer Teams in the summer months. These programs are optional and are at an additional cost.
What program is my child eligible for? And when are practices?
Our PeeWee In-House Program is for children ages 3-5 years old. Our PeeWee program usually practices on Saturday mornings in season. Our U6 (under 6) In-House Program, typically practices 1 or 2 times during weeknights. All children starting with our U7 Program are Leauge play. U7 and up programs typically practice 2x on weeknights. Weeknight practice depends upon field availability and coach preference. All children are placed into soccer programs & teams based upon birth year, not educational grade. Please see soccer age chart below. If more information is needed regarding practice days and times please email: [email protected]
Academy to Competitive Play
AYSA highly believes in teaching foundational foot skills. For this reason AYSA has Academy style practice for PeeWee, U5 & U6 programs. Each of these programs practice 1-2 times a week learning different foot skills and conditioning. During these practices children may also participate in mini scrimmage games. These games will help prepare players for the next level of the soccer game.
Starting with the U7 program players will start to participate in Competitive Play. All players will go through an evaluation to see where their competitive level of play is at. Players will be placed on to teams based upon this evaluation. Parents have the right to ask for their player to be placed at a lower level of play only. As parents, we all believe our children have an ability of higher play, however this is a coach and administrative/registrar decision only. Base upon the level of play, AYSA participates in two (2) different soccer leagues: OHTSL (Ohio Travel Soccer Leage) and LTSL (Lorain County Soccer League). Please visit http://www.ohtsl.com or http://www.loraincountysoccer.org/ for more information.
