What is going on with 12U and the survey?  The Board sent a survey, asking families with 11-12 year-old players about a Wayne County play option.  Based on the survey results and discussions about the league's competitiveness, the Board has voted to change the league's kid-pitch model, from a 12U/10U structure to one that organizes teams by the player's ability.

Moving forward, the Majors will consist of the top 9-12 aged players within the league. Further, the top players in the Majors will play in the Wayne County league, with home games being played at Miller Field. Away games will be in neighboring communities (i.e. Orrville, Smithville, Rittman, etc.). There will be at least one Wayne County team selected, with the possibility of more if numbers and capability merit such. It is the Board's hope that players who typically leave for travel teams will be more inclined to stay at Miller Field and play on this Wayne County squad.

If the league's registrations allow, the remaining Majors players will be organized in a Miller Field-only league. These teams would follow our more traditional model of playing a round-robin schedule, with all games at Miller.

The Minors will serve as more of a developmental league, for those players who are just starting kid pitch AND for those older players who still need to work on their game before they are ready for the "next level." The Minors will follow our traditional Miller-only model. Tee Ball and Coach Pitch remain unchanged.

Does my child need to attend evaluations?  Tee Ball aged players (4-6) do not need to attend.  Coach Pitch players (7-8) only need to attend if they are new to that division or were not on a team last year. All 9-12 aged players will need to attend the evaluations, so the league can determine if they will be placed in Majors, Minors, or the Wayne County team.

Evaluations are on March 14-15 (you only have to attend one night). More info (i.e. time, location, equipment needed, etc.) will be e-mailed to registrants as we approach that date.

Will the fields be ready for Opening Day?  The league is working as fast as possible to get the fields ready. In the event they are not ready, we are working on an alternate plan to make sure everyone can start the season on time. Today, excavation and drainage has been completed on the prior-named South Miller field. North Miller is in mid-construction. Assuming the weather continues to cooperate, we will make every effort to have an awesome opening day on the new fields. The league will continue to provide updates as the work gets done.

How do I register?  Registration is completely online this year. Please visit http://www.woosteryouthbaseball.com and press "Login." You can change your password, if you forgot it. Please let us know if you have any trouble registering your child on the site. You can email us at [email protected]com with any questions.

When are the winter clinics?  The clinics will be held at the Gault Rec Center on Jan. 30 and Feb. 13, both from 10 a.m.-noon. More info to come.
