10U SOFTBALL LEAGUE RULES
• Book shall be kept every game by home team
• Both coaches and umpires should know exact game start time so they know when it ends. Scorekeeper should note in scorebook. No new inning should begin once official time has elapsed unless a tied game. A new inning begins when the last out of an inning is recorded
• Game time is 70 minutes or 6 innings
• Each batter will start with a 1 ball & 1 strike count.
• 35’ pitching distance and 60’ base path
• 5 runs per inning
• Stealing is allowed for all bases unless the coach is pitching.
• One base on overthrow per play, no matter where overthrow occurs
• Sliding into home is not mandatory- but cannot make intentional contact.
• Infield fly rule does not apply
• Bat your entire roster
• Play 10 in the field
• Unlimited defensive substitutions
• Ten run rule in effect after 4 innings game is over.
• If game is tied at the end of regulation, automatically go into International Tie Breaker (ITB). The last batted player goes to 2nd base during ITB.
• Makeup games will be scheduled by League Leadership
• Substitute player rule: If a team is short of players a team may pick up another payer from that age group. However that must be announced by each team if a player is picked up and Player must be positioned in outfield and bats last. 7 players are acceptable, 7 players or under are allowed to pick up players
• If team plays with 7 players there are no outs recorded for the missing players in the lineup
• Outfielders must be no closer than the edge of the grass
• First inning each pitcher gets 5 warm up pitches, every inning following pitcher gets 3 warm up pitches. (Substitute pitcher on first appearance gets 5 pitches)
• If the batter walks the coach will come out and pitch to their player.
• The number of pitches by the coach is determined up to the number of remaining strikes against the player, plus 1. Example: If player has 2 strikes, 1 strike remains. Coach will pitch up to 2 pitches.
• Coach must pitch with one foot on the pitcher rubber.
• The opposing pitcher must have one foot inside the circle when the coach is pitching to their own player.
