- Advanced Flag Football (Grades 2 and 3): $125.00
- Grades 3 & 4 Tackle: $175.00
- Grades 5 & 6: Tackle: $175.00
Grades refer to the class grades that the player will be attending in the coming fall and school year. Both boys and girls are welcome to play in any of our divisions!
Can my daughter play on a flag football team?
- Of course! Girls are welcome to play in our flag football division along with our tackle division. The Colts, with the support of the Irsay Family, recently donated $1 million of support to get to the necessary 100 schools to be considered a varsity sport in the state of Indiana. Currently there are 33 committed schools to this effort and that only continues to grow with more girls becoming involved in the sport!
When does the 2025 season start?
- The season will start with our first practice on August 4th at the Harrison Varsity Football complex. Equipment handout will occur on several days prior to the start of practice which will be posted at a later date.
When are practices?
- Practices for the first three weeks of the season will run Mondays through Thursdays from 6:00pm to 7:30pm. These first three weeks are used as an acclimation period and a chance for coaches to observe and scout players ahead of our draft. Starting on August 25th, practices will shift to Monday's and Wednesday's only from 6:00-7:30pm.
What equipment do I need to provide?
- Harrison Youth Football has gone to great lengths to ensure the equipment that we provide our athletes is always up to the highest standards to ensure their safety and confidence in playing. We provide the following gear for our flag and tackle programs:
Flag:
Harrison Youth Football will supply flags and shirts for the players. Parents will supply shorts and tennis/football shoes. No baseball/softball spikes allowed.
Tackle:
Harrison will supply helmets, shoulder pads, padded pants and a mouthpiece. Parents will need to supply football cleats (no baseball/softball/soccer cleats) along with under clothing.
VISORS OR ANY OTHER EQUIPMENT THAT MODIFIES ANY HYFB EQUIPMENT IS ALLOWED UNLESS A MEDICAL NEED IS DOCUMENTED. Backplates or other equipment that can be added to shoulder pads to provide additional padding may be added but must be done so with the approval of the HYFB President or Vice President.
How are teams determined in your tackle program?
- During our preseason practices, our coaches determine skill levels for each player and where they may best be placed. Using a snake draft, coaches evenly distribute players to create teams that are as competitively balanced as possible. This ensures players are gaining as much positive experience as possible. This draft is done with the knowledge that no team is 'stacked.' If at any time the President, Vice President, or Director of Coaching believes a team holds an unfair competitive advantage, players may be moved to ensure balance amongst all teams is gained.
How are teams determined in your flag program?
- Starting with the 2025 season, we will be opening up our flag division back up for kindergartners. With this, we will be dividing up our flag program into two divisions: Beginner (Kindergarten & 1st Grade) and Advanced (2nd and 3rd Grade). These teams are randomly selected as there is no observation prior to the first practice/game. We will try to evenly distribute experienced players amongst all teams.
Can my third grader play both flag and tackle?
- SURE! Just know your player will then be playing back to back games on Sundays as our flag program begins at 12:00 and our 3rd/4th grade program begins 15 minutes following (typically around 1:20-1:30). You will need to register your player and pay the fees for both leagues ($125 for flag and $175 for tackle).
Are you coaches trained and certified?
- All of our coaches are certified through USA Football, whether they are a coach for our flag football or tackle divisions. Our program chooses to partner with USA Football because their resources and training prioritize the safety and proper development of our young athletes. By following USA Football's guidelines and utilizing their certified coaches, we ensure our players learn the fundamentals the right way in a supportive environment that puts their well-being first. Coaches must also pass a certified background check through the Tippecanoe School Corporation due to the usage of their facilities.
