About Mason Rising 

MYB Rising is a competitive team that will include extra practice times and games. Before accepting your child’s spot, please be aware that the commitment includes two practices per week and, once games start, two games per week. Players are expected to attend all practices and games.

If you believe your child will be unable to meet this commitment, please do not accept their spot on a MYB Rising team.

Players who attend tryouts but are not selected for a Mason Rising team will be placed on Mason Youth Basketball recreational teams for the 2024-25 season.

To be placed on either a recreational team or a MYB Rising team, all players must be officially signed up through the Mason Community Center. This applies to girls and boys in grades 4-6.

Mason Rising Tryouts

Mason Youth Basketball has partnered with the Mason High School Boys and Girls basketball programs to run the 4^th grade through 6^th grade Mason Rising tryouts. The high school coaching staffs will be evaluating the players based on the following skills:

·         Shooting

·         Dribbling

·         Passing

·         Defense

·         Rebounding

·         Athletic Ability

·         Game Play

·         Court Sense

·         Coachability

The number of teams per grade and gender will be determined by the tryout process and will be dependent on the amount of and skill level of the players participating in the tryout. Teams will consist of eight (8) to ten (10) players. Unlike 4^th grade through 6^th grade recreational teams who play a 10-game schedule and have one one-hour long practice per week, Mason Rising teams will play a 20-game schedule and have additional practice time per week. If your student athlete is selected and decides to play on a Mason Rising team, an additional fee will be required, not to exceed $135 per student athlete. The additional fee will be determined after the team formation. Based on the number of teams and number of players on a team, the fee per player may be reduced. This additional fee covers the additional games and practice time that Mason Rising players are afforded.
