For Parents

Snack Shack Information

The Murphy Ranch Baseball Complex is not a city-run facility. Because of that,
we rely on our own funding to maintain the fields and our baseball equipment.  For
this reason
the snack shack is an integral part of our funding.  We would like to thank all of our parents and volunteers that work in the snack shack and make
each season a success!

Snack Shack FAQs

How much is the snack shack deposit?

The snack shack deposit fee is $125.00 per player.
Do my spouse and I both have to work a 4 hour shift?

No, one parent per player must work the required 4 hour shift.

When is the snack shack deposit due?

The snack shack deposit is due when your team meets for the first time. The snack shack deposit needs to be submitted before your child can play. Please note: snack shack deposit checks will not be combined with registration fees.

How/where is my $125 dollar check spent if I forfieit?

Your money will go toward funding the ongoing field maintenance and cleaning.
Do I have to work the entire 4 hour shift or can my spouse and I spilt the shift?

No, you do not have to work the entire shift. You can spilt the 4 hour required shift with your spouse or an adult relative. They must be approved by the Auxiliary prior to working; workers must be related to the player. The person working must stay until their relief has arrived. Someone MUST be in the snack shack the entire time on your family’s behalf. This is done so that other league volunteers are not having to cover shifts regularly.

When will I receive my snack shack deposit check back?

The $125.00 deposit will be returned after you have worked your required hours for your team as verified by the team parent.  In the event that you are unable, late, show up in opened toed shoes (no open toed shoes per the health department), or do not show up to fulfill your mandatory hours, your $125.00 will be forfeited to the league.  That money will then go to the field clean up fund.
Can I have my teen age daughter/son work my shift?

Yes, as long as they are 18 years or older. EVERYONE inside the snack shack must be 18 years or older...This is a rule of the health department and there are no exceptions.

When registering more than one player, can I write one snack shack deposit check for all players?

We prefer to have separate deposits for each of the respective players.  We prefer it this way so that our record keeping stays accurate and we don't get in a situation where partial refunds need to be issued.
Can I bring others to help in the snack shack?

No, the snack shack is tight quarters. For safety reasons only the parents scheduled to work are allowed in the snack shack. Too many workers in the snack shack become unsafe and reduces our ability to keep accountability of the cash.  Accountability of the money in the snack shack is a top priority.

When will I know the dates/times our team has been scheduled?

Prior to Opening Day the snack shack/barbeque schedules will be posted on the website. All teams scheduled to work the first two weeks will be notified early. Their Team Parent will be notified by the snack shack manager as soon as the schedules are complete.
If I cannot work any of the designated shifts our team was scheduled, can I reschedule?

No, you or an adult family member must work your required 4 hour shift on one of the designated shifts your team has been scheduled to work. We realize this can be less than flexible but rescheduling causes a domino effect through the rest of the schedules.

If our team’s shift is rained out will our team be rescheduled to work?

Yes, your team will be rescheduled to work at a later date. The snack shack manager will notify your team parent with the rescheduled date as soon as possible.

Why do we as parent volunteers work in the snack shack?

The snack shack is a huge part of our league.  The revenue made in the snack shack is used to fund upgrades around the facility.  Over the last several years, money made in the snack shack has been used to build shade structures, improve the quality of our fields, buy new and improved equipment and pay the ever increasing water bill.
