The responsibility for the upkeep of the fields at a local Little League program belongs to the local league board of directors. In many areas, the local league has an agreement with a municipality to maintain the fields, but often is the case that your local Little League program relies on the generosity of the local volunteers to help upkeep the fields.
Generally, the distance between base paths on fields for all divisions of softball is 60 feet.
The pitching distance for the different divisions of softball are as follows:
- Farms: 35 feet
- Minors and Majors: 40 feet
- Juniors and Seniors: 43 feet
Distance from the back of home plate to the outfield fence is a local league option, but the following distances are recommended: For girls softball, all divisions, 200 feet.
