We offer two divisions of Instructional Softball: Soft Tee Ball and Coach Pitch.

In both of these divisions, a strong emphasis is placed on making the game informative, fun and enjoyable for the girls.

• Seasons run from middle-to-the-end of March thru mid-June. All activities finish up around the same time as the end of the school year.
• Practices are held the first couple of weeks, followed by game play against other teams in their divisions.
• Practices and games could be held any night of the week and/or on Saturdays. Days will vary from week to week.
• Weekday times run from 6:00 p.m. till about 7:30 p.m.
• Saturday times can run between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
• We traditionally avoid holding practices and games on Sundays; however, inclement weather may force activities on Sunday.
• In both divisions, games are about 1 hour in length. Players will be expected to arrive early for warm-ups on game days.

Most events will be held at Bustard Rd. Park on the designated Tee Ball (Field 9) and Coach Pitch (Field 5) fields.

Soft Tee Ball is for 4-6 year-old girls with no prior softball experience. Player eligibility for this division is determined by Little League's League Age Calculator.

For the first half of the season, girls use a “smoosh ball” and hit off of a batting tee for the first half of the season. At mid-season, play switches to coach pitch depending on the player's development.

Soft Tee Ball is set up as a fun, learning division. No scores or standings are kept; and there are no playoff activities. Coaches are very involved on the field during the game. The emphasis is on skill development and gaining a basic knowledge of the game.

Equipment Required: All players need a glove, bat, and a helmet. Fielding masks are not required, but are highly recommended.

Weekly Schedule: Weekly schedule will vary due to the shared field. Coaches preferences are taken into account, but scheduling considerations cannot be guaranteed. Weeknight events generally report around 6pm. Weekend times may vary if needed.

Coach Pitch is for 7 and 8-year-old girls. Player eligibility for this division is determined by Little League's League Age Calculator.

The Coach Pitch Division is aptly named -- it is entirely pitched by coaches. Coach Pitch is set up as a fun instructional division but includes some competitive aspects to help get the girls prepared for the next level of play – Minors softball.

Emphasis is on building upon the basic skills developed in Soft Tee Ball while increasing a player’s knowledge of the game. Games are played with a modified set of traditional rules to emphasize player development.

Scores and standings are recorded, and playoff activities are held. Coaches are involved on the field during games. There may be opportunities for playing 1 to 2 away games against other local coach pitch intramural teams in the area.

Players in this group may have opportunities to participate in 8U Sunday Select for more advanced play.
