Team Parent Information and Checklist

  • Form a way of communication that works best for you, your coaches, and team parents. Have all contact information for the players. Notify parents of any practice and schedule changes. We recommend GroupMe.

  • Uniforms- The league provides jerseys and hats for each player. Collect each player's size and preferred numbers (00-99) to turn into the equipment manager board member (Steven Cortez). The team is allowed to receive 3 jerseys and hats for team personnel. Please include those sizes in the jersey order.

  • The team manager decides on uniform pants, belts and socks styles and colors. Communicate these to parents so they can order the correct items. All players must match at the time of games (same color pants, socks, belts).

  • Added names- Last names do not come on jerseys. It is up to each team if they want to add these. It is not a requirement. This must be coordinated by the team. The guidelines for this are simple – if one player has it on their uniform, all must have it.

  • A BCLL online team shop will open prior to the season kickoff. This allows parents to order shirts and accessories that coordinate with their player. An email will be sent to the organization and posted to the Bay City Little League Facebook page when opened.

  • Opening Day Cake- All teams must provide a cake for opening day. Organize and plan the cake details as a team. The cake will be in a live auction and bid on by members of the community. Some cakes are given back to the teams to eat on that day. Please have backup plates and forks if this is to take place. Cakes will need to be delivered by 8:45am. More information will be provided through Facebook and BCLL communications.

  • Schedules- When game schedules are completed and approved by the board, they will be distributed to the teams through Facebook and email communications.

  • Practice fields- Fields and practice days are assigned to each team through drafts. Team managers should coordinate with all parents to ensure knowledge of where and when practices are to occur.

  • Pictures- Team pictures are to be decided and coordinated by each individual team. It is up to the team to decide who takes pictures and if they want them. There are many local photographers you can contact for this.

  • Fundraising- There will be fundraisers throughout the season. It is your responsibility to gather, collect, and turn in the order forms, tickets, and money for this. Each team will be given tickets for our ball drop fundraiser, and players will be responsible for selling. Any other fundraiser will be communicated by the board to you.

  • Little League Day at Astros Game- There will be a link posted to the little league Facebook page and emailed to the organization for those who wish to attend. Details and pricing information will be included in the announcement.

  • Concession Stand Information- Parents are encouraged to volunteer to work the concession stand. When we all work together, we help provide a fund, organized experience for all. Teams will be assigned a concession stand day, and you are responsible for providing a worker to support it. Each parent that works a day in the concession stand will receive a $10/ per shift for next year’s registration.

  • Dugouts- Team Parents should assist in the dugout for Tee Ball and Coach Pitching. The kids will need help with the lineup order, behavior management, and equipment while in the dugout. As the players get into minor and major divisions, only team managers and coaches should be in the dugout.

  • Home Team scorekeeping– We will be utilizing GameChanger for this season. Please coordinate a parent from your team to score each home game. (There are a lot of how-tos found on https://gc.com/ )

  • Visiting Team scoreboard– When you are the visiting team, please coordinate a parent from your team to control the scoreboard.

  • Stands and Dugout cleanup- After games, all trash must be picked up from the stands and dugouts. An immediate out will be placed on the next game for your team if this is not taken care of. There are team responsibilities posted in the dugouts for field prep and after-game closure.

  • Snacks- Team snacks are optional. Your team is allowed to bring a small snack and a drink for each player. This, however, is not a requirement. Meet with parents and see what the majority vote is.

  • End of Year Celebration – as we get closer to the end of the season, communications will be sent out for the BCLL’s year-end celebration. Typically, we hold a casual fun time for the players and families which include food, drinks, and fun activities.

Thank you for volunteering as the Team Parent for your team! It is a big responsibility for you to organize and help run the team smoothly. If you have any questions or need assistance, contact any board member. We’re all here to help!
