Volunteers will be identified/vetted for a coaching position as you register in this system. You must indicate your volunteer role upon registration.
You must have all clearances complete prior to coaching a practice, game, scrimmage or tryout.

Groups/Divisions
Grades K-2 - Starts January 10 and ends February 28th on Saturday mornings. Co-ed practices will be for one hour and players learn the game of basketball in a clinical format with scrimmages. We need parent volunteers to be coaches at this level.
Grades 3-4 - There will be a girls league and a boys league. Practices will start right after Thanksgiving and games will start in early January. Games are formatted in a learn to play league with other CYO programs. We need parent volunteers to be coaches at this level.
Junior Varsity Grades 5-6 - There will be a boys and girls league in 5-6. Need coaches for all levels and teams. All registered players will be placed on either a competitive or developmental team roster. Evaluations to determine player placement for the competitive or developmental teams will start the week of October 12th (4th graders are welcome to attend evaluations for the developmental team). Two evaluations (dates TBD) will be offered and players wanting to be considered for the competitive team will need to attend at least one of the evaluations. All players at this level are encouraged to attend evaluations since they can gain additional practice. Practices can start the week of November 2nd and the season will wrap up around early March, potentially Mid March based on playoffs.
*Open Gyms for 5-6 basketball will begin in Mid-September and will run on select Monday and Wednesday evenings at no extra cost. Players must be fully registered for basketball to attend open gyms and evaluations, no refunds.* Being part of the team also qualifies your player to be eligible for outdoor CYO basketball games in summer 2026.
Varsity Grade 7-8 - There will be a boys and girls league in 7-8. Need coaches for all levels and teams. All registered players will be placed on either a competitive or developmental team roster. Evaluations to determine player placement for the competitive or developmental teams will start the week of October 5th (dates TBD). Two evaluations will be offered and players wanting to be considered for the competitive team (6th graders welcome) will need to attend at least one of the evaluations. All players at this level are encouraged to attend evaluations since they can gain additional practice. Practices will begin the week of October 19th and the season will end near early March, potentially mid March based on playoffs.

High School - There will be a boys program that consists of 3-4 teams. Team formation will begin in November and finalized after HS team cuts. Cost is $120 for the boys program. There will be a girls league (SJW has had a HS Girls team the last few years!!!)

*Note: CYO Basketball requires the participant to be a parishioner or attend St. Joseph the Worker School. If attending another public school, attendance at Prep/Religious Education is necessary for sports enrollment. If you are a parishioner or student at another Catholic School we can apply for a waiver so long we are not detracting from your "home program". Coaches are also required to be practicing Catholics.
ACCHS/BECAHS Students not affiliated with a parish are expected to play for the same parish program they played for in prior years. If this is your first year participating in CYO, you are a free to participate in the parish of your choice.
