Fall Volleyball is girls only volleyball where spring is co-ed. We can have both a varsity (7th and 8th grade) and junior varsity (5th and 6th grade) teams. For 4th grade girls, we will offer a developmental season only - this will help prepare players for game play starting in the next spring season.

Typically, 5th thru 6th grades are junior varsity and 7th-8th grades are varsity (6th graders may qualify for varsity in rare cases). Practices can begin on August 18. Expect JV and varsity players to be evaluated to create the teams.

Instructional volleyball for girls in 4th grade provides an opportunity to learn the basics of the game through structured practices and intersquad scrimmages. For girls wanting to explore the sport of volleyball, this is a good opportunity for them to receive instruction in a relaxed environment. Instruction is provided in learning the basic skills including, court awareness and positions, bumping/passing, underhand serving, and proper footwork and mechanics. Practices are generally one to two nights a week (depending on court availability); scrimmages will occur during the scheduled practice sessions. There are no official CYO league games.

JV volleyball for girls in 5th and 6th grade continues to strengthen the fundamentals while also providing exposure to some more advanced skills. Foundational instruction continues to focus on improving bumping/passing, underhand serving, and proper footwork and mechanics, while also beginning to incorporate some more advanced skills such as offensive and defensive court movement and positions, overhand serving techniques, hitting/spiking footwork and mechanics, blocking, setting basics, and serve receiving. Practices are generally two to three nights a week (depending on court availability). Official CYO league games are played on Saturdays and Sundays. Evaluations will occur to create teams.

Varsity volleyball for girls in 7th and 8th grade provides opportunities for more of an advanced level of game play, specifically targeting more advanced skills while still enhancing all the foundational skills. Instruction on overhand serving, offensive and defensive court movement, position roles and responsibilities, player substitutions, setting, hitting/spiking footwork and mechanics, digging, blocking, dink coverage, net play, and serve receiving are targeted skills covered. Practices are generally two to three nights a week (depending on court availability). Official CYO games are played on Saturdays and Sundays. Evaluations will occur to create teams.

Also, your clearances must be submitted by August first for a timely start to the season!
