Coaching Eligibility:
We will be running a background check through the Vermont Criminal Information Center as well as a national database program. You will receive an email from GotSoccer.com; you will be required to sign in and set up an account to allow Vermont Soccer Association to obtain the record. If you coached for GBGSL in the past you will still need to update your profile information in the GotSoccer once you get an email requesting you to.
All coaches are also expected to complete the HEADS UP Training Course through the CDC website before the season begins. The link can be found below:
Due to scheduling challenges and fairness to all we prefer to have each parent only coach one team. If you have more than one daughter and are flexible about which team you coach please make a note of same when you register; you will be assigned to coach where we need you most. If we are short coaches we will assign you to more than one team if you are willing. Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation.
Expectations Of Coaches:
General knowledge of soccer.
Work with co coach to organize practices and games.
Initiate contact with parents.
Help set up and take down goals.
Maintain equipment bags.
Willingness to play each player equally and promote our recreational level league.
Up to 2 coaches needed per team.
COACHES MEETING, Coaching Clinic and Equipment Distribution:
Equipment bags will be available for pickup at Calahan Park.
Practice Space Options:
Specific days and times at Calahan may be available for Spring seasons, watch your email. You will need to share space with other teams. Please watch your email for updates. You can also use school fields in Burlington.
New / Additional Players:
As a coach, you cannot add players to your team. Players must be registered with the league and coaches will be notified via email. If a player on your roster decides not to play please encourage them to email the league so we can add someone from the waiting list. This does not often happen because we do not offer refunds. We will do our best to keep teams full and place girls where they request; we do operate on a first come first serve basis. At some point before the season starts we close registration and finalize our rosters with Vermont Soccer Association, after that no one can be added. Thank you for your cooperation. Allowing unregistered players play on your team jeopardizes the future of our soccer league. It could end our relationship with Vermont Soccer Association which provides our insurance for players, coaches and the board, and could consequently be the end of GBGSL.
