Winter Clinics

The EGSA Winter Training Philosophy

In keeping with EGSA's focus on fundamental player development, our winter programming is centered around individual foot skills, technical proficiency with the soccer ball, and building every player's confidence and soccer IQ. This philosophy is important for all youth soccer players, at both the recreational and competitive levels of play. All EGSA winter sessions are run by professional coaches from our partner, Challenger Sports, so you can be sure that your players are receiving top notch instruction from highly-skilled, licensed trainers.

House League Players: Winter Foot Skills Clinics

Our house league clinics are all about having fun while improving soccer skills. We estimate that in the first 35 minutes the kids touch the ball almost 600 times. They learn to use all of the surfaces of the foot and this improves confidence on the ball. Clinics finish with small sided games so the players can have fun and try out their new moves!

There is a maximum registration of 43 players per hour to comply with social distancing guidelines. This amount is only slightly lower than our typical number per hour to ensure a reasonable player-to-coach ratio. We did fill all spots last year.

Travel Team Players: Winter Technical Training Program

For our travel team players, EGSA runs a technical training program that is designed to challenge and improve every player's confidence, fitness, and decision-making with a soccer ball. The Club strongly feels that this program is consistent with our core principles and player development philosophy. One of the tenets of that philosophy is that players should augment their soccer playing with other sports to prevent sports specialization injuries. Many of our players also enjoy basketball, hockey, skiing, dance, and gymnastics over the winter months, and this program will (hopefully) allow them to better balance soccer with those activities.
