2020 OPBA Umpires

The OPBA feels strongly that the quality of umpiring directly affects the level of play, as well as the conduct of the coaches, parents and spectators. Accordingly, we have spent much time, effort and money to insure that all individuals umpiring in OPBA games are well-trained.

To that end, the OPBA sponsors an umpire-training course each year.  This course is typically 3 consecutive 2 hour sessions held on Friday nights in March.  The umpire training course is free to participants, provided that they commit to be available to work OPBA games.  The training is conducted by a professional umpire.   We REQUIRE that all umpires that work in 13u and 14u be IHSA recognized or certified.   We ALSO REQUIRE that all umpires that work in the 7u through 12u baseball and softball Leagues complete our umpire-training course.  Any male or female who will be 13 years old by May 1st is eligible.

If you are interested in umpiring for the OPBA, please contact our umpire supervisor Josh Locks at [email protected]

Please Note - OPBA will need a W9 Form to remit payment to umpires.
