Oak Park Lacrosse Club

Girls Program Overview

Lacrosse is the fastest growing sport in California and the United States and we are very proud to say that Oak Park Park Lacrosse Club (OPLC) has been a leader in Ventura County in developing players that respect the game, play hard and have fun.

We are not a win at all cost club and we value player development, teamwork and skills over winning a game. Our coaching staff is some of the finest coaches in Lacrosse and as a club we have always utilized professional coaches and will continue that tradition. One of the traditions that we are very proud of is our youth coaches program. At Oak Park Lacrosse Club we have Oak Park High Girls Varsity Lacrosse players as coaches. These are some of the finest students and athletes that coach for for us and we are very happy to have them as part of our organization.

Teams
We field an Elementary School (ES) team, grades 3 to 5 and a Middle School (MS) team, grades 6 to 8. Our club is part of the Southern California Lacrosse Association (SCLA http://scla.sites.teamsnap.com) and in order to play on a OPLAX team your child must attend a school in the Oak Park Unified School District and live in Oak Park. Waivers to this requirement are considered on a case by case basis and must be reviewed and renewed each year by OPLAX and the SCLA.

Practice Schedule
Our season for both teams runs from January to May with 90 minute practices 2 nights a week. Our club practice field is at Valley View Park, 100 Los Arcos Drive, Oak Park. For the 2017 season our practice days were Monday and Wednesday, ES Team 5:30 - 7:00 PM and the MS team from 6:30 - 8:00 PM. Please note that these days and times may change for 2018 season and we will not have our practice schedule locked in until late December.

Inclement Weather/Field Closure - Please know that we lease our practice space from Rancho Simi Parks and Recreation and they have the final say on if the fields are open and closed. Last year we had 34 practices scheduled and 7 of the 34 were cancelled due to inclement weather. Before you leave home/work/school for a practice we ask that you please call "The Mudline" at (805 584-4413). The Mudline is a recording maintained by RSP&R that is updated daily with what fields are open or closed. If the mudline says Valley View Park is closed DO NOT COME TO PRACTICE.

Jamboree/Regular Season Games/Playoffs/All Star Game
Our season kicks off with "Jamboree Weekend", a round robin style tournament where all teams play each other over the course of two days.

Regular season games kick off the first Saturday after Jamboree. We will have games each Saturday (Sunday games may be scheduled due to inclement weather).

Playoffs are held at the end of the regular season. Teams are seeded based on each teams win/loss/tie record over the course of the regular season. This is a win to play on style tournament in that each team will play 1 game. If your team wins they keep playing until they lose or win the championship.

The All Star Game is held 1 week after the end of the playoffs. Two teams are formed of the top players in the SCLA for that season. Each team will receive a number of players they can send based on the win/lose/tie record over the season.  Example: If your team came in first place the number could be 8 players. If your team finished last your teams number could be 2 players.

* Please note that all selections for All Star are made by the coaches and the coaches only. We ask that all parents and players do not approach the coaching staff about All Star selections. If you have any questions please contact a Oak Park Lacrosse Club board member.
