Bobcats Football serves Novi Community School District youth in grades 1-8. The Bobcats teach sportsmanship, hard work, physical and mental development, and a love for the game of football!
Are there tryouts for Bobcats Football?
There are no tryouts.
When are practices?
Practices begin in early August. Football players will practice no more than 2.5 hours a day, 5 times a week, before the school year begins. Once school begins, football players will practice no more than 2 hours a day, 4 times per week. The coaches for each team will finalize their team's practice schedule just before the season begins. Flag teams have reduced practice times. Please see SMYFA website for specific Flag rules.
Where are practices held?
Practices are held at the Novi High School practice football fields. These fields are located behind the Novi High School tennis courts off of Ten Mile Rd.
When and where are games played?
Games are played on Saturdays and Sundays. Home games will be played at Novi High School.
How are participants assigned to a team?
Participants are assigned to teams by age.
What are the age assignments?
Flag Football: Ages 6 and 7 on September 1, 2022
Freshman Football: Ages 8 and 9 on September 1, 2022
Junior Varsity Football: Ages 10 and 11 on September 1, 2022
Varsity Football: Ages 12 and 13 on September 1, 2022
Are there weight limits for football?
There are maximum weight limits for each level to play in a game. The tackle levels also include a "restricted play" weight.

Junior Varsity Football: 150 lbs., 160 lbs. for restricted play
Varsity Football: 175 lbs., 195 lbs. for restricted play
When is registration?
Veteran: Registration for Veterans (and veteran siblings and Flag Football) begins on February 1. Veterans not registered by midnight on February 28, will lose their Veteran status and must register as a Rookie.
Rookie: Registration for Rookies (1st year players) begins at 12:01am on March 1.

What flag football equipment do the Bobcats provide?
Flag football players will be provided with a padded flag helmet, a belt with flags, and a game jersey. All equipment must be returned at the end of the season.
What tackle football equipment do the Bobcats provide?
The Bobcats provide a helmet with chin strap, shoulder pads, integrated football pants, a practice jersey, and a game jersey. All equipment, except for the custom game jersey, must be returned at the end of the season. Players must provide their own mouth guard (with strap), athletic cup, girdle/jock strap, socks and football cleats.
