Travel soccer is the next step from Recreational Soccer/ Rush Academy. Teams will practice two to three times per week and will play about 8 league games in both the spring and fall soccer seasons. In additional to that there will be about three tournaments per year. The word 'travel' may sound a bit scary to newcomers, but it simply means that instead of playing games at the same recreational field every week a team will play half of its games at its home field and the other half at the opposing team's home field. Depending on your team's skill level, games will be approximately within a 30 minute radius of Geneva with most games being on a weekend.
Why travel soccer?
Travel soccer is the next step in youth soccer development with more experienced coaching, more advanced age appropriate skill development, and a more competitive atmosphere. In addition there are several team bonding activities and events that are held throughout the season.
This sounds very competitive... what if my child misses a practice or a game?
While travel soccer is certainly more competitive than recreational soccer we fully recognize that your kids are kids. Our goal is simply to develop them into the best soccer players and people that they can be and, in addition to developing superior soccer skills, we are also trying to develop superior life skills.
What if my child outgrows your travel soccer program?
Great question and that's one of the many reasons that being a part of a Chicago Rush Soccer Club is truly a benefit. Chicago Rush offers a 'next level' Select program for the top players from each of its clubs. The Select program is highly competitive (and may involve more travel to find other highly competitive teams). We are also a member of the highly competitive Super Y Summer Soccer League.
