WINTER 23/24 Travel level basketball is offered only for boys grades 3 to 6 with Ringgold Youth Basketball
Ringgold Youth Basketball (RYB) participates with the Mon Valley Youth Basketball League (MVYBL) for our Recreational teams. All boys and girls in grades 3 to 6 will play on a Recreational level team. MVYBL is an association with the Belle Vernon, Frazier, and Charleroi school district community youth basketball organizations.
- Teams are evenly divided with ability. There are no higher A and lower B teams.
- Teams are traditionally rostered by gender and then individual grade level, although mixed grades 3/4 and 5/6 are possible depending on final registration numbers and other rostering considerations based on final registration information.
- Regular season games are in January and February, generally on Saturdays but occasional weeknight games possible. One game a week.
- Home games are played at Ringgold Middle School (RMS) gym, and Away games are played at a school district gymnasium in Belle Vernon, Frazier, and Charleroi.
Ringgold Youth Basketball participates with the South Hills Youth Basketball League (SHBL) for our Travel teams. SHBL is an association with other school district community teams in the wider South Hills of Pittsburgh geographic area. Although membership is subject to change slightly year-to-year, this usually includes community boys and girls teams 3rd to 6th grade from Upper St. Clair, Thomas Jefferson, Canon-McMillan, Peters Township, Mt. Lebanon, Bethel Park, and Baldwin.
- Teams are rostered by invitation only to play on a Travel team following evaluations reviewed from annual Tryout sessions. Travel team rosters are established by ability level. Even though Tryouts are mandatory for all players, not all players who tryout will receive an invitation to play on a Travel teams. All players eventually rostered to a Travel team are required to also play on a Recreational team as well.
- Regular season games begin in December and end in February. Games could be different weeknights and/or weekend days one week to the next. This could include 1-2 games each week, but generally most weeks should only be 1 game.
- Home games are played at the Shoot360 gym facility at the Cool Springs complex in Bethel Park. Away games are played at a school district gymnasium in one of the other SHBL member communities.
- Registration cost per player is higher than if only playing on a Recreational level team. Registration for both Travel and Recreational can be paid at the same time, but it is recommended registration is completed for Recreational before the Travel team Tryout sessions. Don't wait to find out if your child makes the Travel team to decide to register with payment for Recreational, as that still has to be done by the deadline. Travel team registration and payment if invited to the roster after Tryouts, can be turned-in after the regular Recreational deadline but still due by the date provided at some point.
- The Travel team jersey is the same as the In-House jersey, so only one $25 game jersey needs purchased.
