Volunteering
The Milford Jr Spartans is a volunteer run association that relies on parent volunteers to be successful. Volunteers assist on game and competition days; completing a variety of tasks. We also have additional committees, and positions that require volunteers. These volunteer events include but are not limited to working in the concession stand, announcing and score keeping, 50/50 raffle, chains, field set up and take down.
For each athlete that is registered in the Tackle Football and Cheer programs; parents/guardians are required to participate in 7 volunteer hours; for each additional athlete in the same family 5 additional hours are required per athlete.
For each athlete that is registered in the Flag Football and Jr Tiny Mites Cheer (ages 3-4) programs; parents/guardians are required to participate in 5 volunteer hours; for each additional athlete in the same family 3 additional events are required per athlete.
For families with multiple athletes in the Football and Cheer programs, a total of 12 volunteer hours is the maximum requirement per family per season.
*All Families are required to work a minimum of 1 hour in the concession stand*
Below is an example of what a 2 athlete family needs to complete for Volunteer Events
# of Athletes in the Program | Volunteering HOURS required | Volunteering HOURS total |
2 athlete families in tackle and cheer | 7 volunteer hours + 5 volunteer hours | 12 hours total |
2 athlete families in flag and jr tiny mites | 5 volunteer hours + 3 volunteer hours | 8 hours total |
2 athlete families with 1 tackle/cheer and 1 flag/jr tiny mite | 7 volunteer hours + 5 volunteer hours | 12 hours total |
There is no buy out option for volunteer events.
Volunteer Hours are not the same as Fundraising Events.
A post-dated check in the amount of $225.00 made out to MJS for volunteering events must be submitted for each athlete; to the Volunteer Director before your athlete(s) can take the field. If the required number of volunteering events has not been fulfilled by the end of the season, your post-dated check will be deposited. If the number of required volunteer events have been fulfilled your check will be shredded. Failure to provide a check for volunteering will result in your athlete not taking the field until received.
*Our goal is not to cash any checks, as we would like everyone to meet their volunteer requirements.*
The Volunteer Director will send out communication regarding Volunteer Hours. .
Volunteer hours are required and are separate from Fundraising Events. For more information please reach out to the Volunteer Director. ([email protected])
